  1. ... go with it dude ... nothing else funny going on today ...
  2. those little LED type ones don't work well in the cold. Better to bring an older one with the big flat battery. Don't forget a spare.
  3. I think there may have been a few more steps up the main drainage, can't say if they would have been climbable.
  4. I dunno, climbing through the natural water worn granite arches on Echo Magic would be amazing too. How far up the canyon did you go masternate? any farther than us?
  5. you must have missed the memo
  6. I'd love to go but the DWR wore off my down suit ... I hope you will make a DVD of your climb.

    one for dru

I am trying to decide which is more strange - Squids in the O.C. versus Flava Flav and Brigitte Nielson gettin' busy.
  8. fun trip. better a night in Boston Bar than a car in the ditch. what's this 'dark electronica'? back in the day we called it 'industrial'
  9. there are some good spanish language ones too, but the names escape me. I think there is one by Juanjo Tome - which is OK, but should be cross-referenced as in some cases his descriptions are out of date for the deterioration of ice faces and glaciers. supposedly Elaho will be publishing a guide to the Cordillera Huayhuash in the near future too. www.cosleyhouston.com is a good resource for pretty pictures, ideas etc. . They guide there every year.
  10. dude your description is missing a pitch. It was a fun climb.
  11. they can come forward themselves if they want to spray about it. Nosy aren't you? ... ambulance chaser
  12. there was an 'accident' at the base of Easy Intro on Friday. I do not know whether they were 'rescued'. But they were patched up and drinking beers by 8pm.
  13. too funny. we almost went up this thing today too. Instead we opted to go climb something that was actually IN the book and couldn't find it

different Northwest Passage ... we're talking ice here, not vertical old growth forest.
  15. is Gordon Lightfoot country? I like him, though the only country cd I actually own is Patsy Cline. For modern country-noir type stuff my votes go to Nicole Steen/Coal and Oh Susannah.

Hell's Gate, Fraser canyon. deceptive pictures. I backed off both leads ... I could make an excuse but mostly I am just chicken and weak ... bok bok bok
  17. http://www.aranet.ca/icybc/fraser/sailor.html based on what I observed around squamish and just talking out my bum I would be that blue moon on rye is frozen but thin (low water supply) and covered in about a foot of snow now. But that is all speculation.
  18. I think the whole range of Khamsins has been changed or superseded or whatever for this year. I have a Khamsin 38 (size small) and find it pretty good and comfy, ok size for summer overnights but not quite big enough for winter. The seams are starting to bust a little where the compression straps connect.
  19. well I got mine off ... so maybe it only works if a girl is doing the yanking - you have a gf right? Let'er at it ... I found a rotating motion worked well. the slot in the plastic rest thing has molded protrusions which seat in the large hole in the metal spike. You gotta pop and pry these free - that might have been the crack. DISCLAIMER: not my fault if you break your tools ... but mine was not so dramatic to remove the bit or replace it.
  20. I climbed the Mousetrap yesterday. It was all good, all the plunge pools are solid, not too much running water by coast standards. 8+pitches, 1100' vert, no intermediate slogs. Anybody who drives past it this weekend just to join the crowds on Honeyman Falls is a dumbass.
  21. birkenhead peak, birkenstock couloir
  22. you remove the pinky rest by undoing the small allen bolt and yanking it off. tight fit yank hard
  23. tnx for the tip
  24. I poked around Squamish today to see what was coming in. It's all still a little scuba, but a couple more days of cold will bring it in. Lots of ice fringing Shannon Falls, good build-up on the bluffs south of Oleson Ck, U-Wall Drool was fatter than I've ever seen it tho, but the rest of the Chief was fairly dry.
