the corollary to dru's first point is: If you are being tailgated veer slightly into the centrelane plow debris and spray the tailgater with gravel. If you are lucky you will crack their windshield and they will back off. the extra jug of washer fluid is no joke though. Don't forget to stop periodically to wipe off your headlights either. I suspect the Seattle-Spokane route is somewhat at the mercy of less regular plowing than HWY1.

badvoodoo we found your shoes ... they were under a rock. I think we left them there cause they didn't fit any of us

ashw_justin thank you for making that effort at redirecting spray. The way the threads are managed here it is not easy to preserve a single good post out of a long string of unnecessary ones without leaving behind a bunch of blanks and "message deleted" notes etc. If the ultimate goal is to leave a thread that is more readable and on-topic than it was before getting sprayed on, sometimes it is unavoidable that a lone quality post be lost along with the rest of the trimmings. The best way to avoid this is to click on the Reply button of the first post of the thread, or another on-topic post rather than using the quick post function at the bottom of the page. thank you for using cc.com and have a good dinner

aid pieces if used singly. equalize all three together in a nest and they may be truck. common practice in england. 13 nuts is a better value than 10 for the same price

I banned caveman because he called someone a scrawny fucker that he would snap like a twig. if ray wants to discuss this with me my email address is (my name first and last no spaces) at hotmail.com . If you don't know my last name then ask one of our mutual friends.

When you finally get some sucker to buy your old crap, put a SOLD notice in the TITLE of the thread or notify me, and I will ship your thread away so you don't get pestered any more. This will make the yard sale forum tidier. Photos of your junk can be uploaded to the Yard Sale album in the photo gallery. If you include an email address in your posting you may wish to disguise it in some way to keep it from being harvested for future spamming. float on in the great river of acquisition!

it would be bad form to get injured in a fall that could have been prevented by grabbing the draw to make the clip.

I think that you should run fast so you can get to the ropes first. And if you get there later and the ropes are sketch then you should drop brown coils on the organizers for being unsafe dumbasses. But tiblocs don't HAVE TO wreck ropes if they are used carefully.

what sort of background do you have in hiking or backpacking or winter camping or skiing etc. Alpine climbing is usually one or more of those things with some technical rock or ice climbing added in. IMO it's a lot easier to pick up the rope skills than the backcountry skills. I.e. it's easy to go to a gym and learn to tie knots and belay etc., but more difficult to learn how to avoid blisters and stay warm and comfortable for several days in the mountains. what do you want to climb? is there a particular mountain or route that you would set as a goal?

[TR] Wasington Classics Tour- W Face NEWS, OuterSp
fern replied to willstrickland's topic in North Cascades
on the FMWB scale it is a 111 - just for comparison the pitch below it is a 100, and the pitch below that is 011. All the pitches of Total Soul are either 101 or 111 except the top which is 110. I think the kearney description for WFNEWS is good - not as intimidating as you might think and goes easily at 5.9 A1. It was a quality climbing trip. thanks Will -
mike said mean things to me once. I think he sucks

You seem sortof reluctant about the Hot Shake packs and I don't understand why. They are not really expensive (check Home Depot, gas station etc. - REI may not have the best price) and they are a heat source that doesn't require your body to produce and transport the heat. You can tape them wherever to your body you need the heat etc. When they are shoved into gloves they last longer than the 'specs' though at a lower peak temperature (due to reduced access to air to fuel the rxn). For dexterous liner gloves you might experiment with snug (not tight) rubber dishwashing or latex surgical gloves (allergy potential!). I don't think more expensive == better in the glove world. Sometimes a low-tech hardware store pair will be the best for a particular application.

hello friends, this is all interesting and whatever. but completely random when considering that this is the British Columbia Forum and the topic is a mountain in the Tantalus Range. Please stop talking about Washington state mountains in this forum and start new threads in the appropriate area forums instead. It will make it easier for future users to search the site for information. If anyone has anything else to say about the North Face of Serratus Mountain then Rock On! thank you

there isn't a nut, that's what fell off, the hanger is still there hanging from the chains. Due to the angle of the bolt studs vs the angle of the pull on the anchor I wouldn't recommend trusting a nut cinched over the stud here. Someone needs to replace the nut - you can probably snag one from under the boulder below City Park

What is the lie here? And what does the proximity of a ski area have to do with it? You can't see the ski area from where this crag is. If those bolts didn't have bright red and yellow draws hanging from them then Merv never would have even seen them to get all affronted. Some people believe in minimizing visual impact wherever possible.

how do you pronounce "The Dalles" and "Madras" in oregon ... I always just mumble when those places come up in conversation. in other news - the mountain up in the Monarch Icefield is called Cerberus, as in the dog guarding the gates of hell, not Cerebrus, as in some X-Men character with a big brain. that one bugs me. another good one is Koleh7 - the name of a big alpine meadow near Lillooet lake. The '7' pronounced as a glottal stop

I nominate this photo for the Gollum-Goes-Trad-Climbing award for September. seen it enough times yet? how about now? maybe a few more???

the title of your thread has wrecked the page formatting minx you

If you click on the Trip Report Index title in the top menu bar (or follow this link: http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/threadz/tripreports.php?Cat=0 ) it will open the Trip Report Index with some search fields at the top. Fill in your info etc. and click Filter and it will sort ONLY through the trip reports, not through the entire post database. Not all TRs that were posted before the TR Index was created have been indexed yet - the mods have to enter these one by one and it's a big job. If you find an old one that is not indexed yet notify the relevant mod to get it added.

the best variation I have read is the one with the Nigerian astronaut who is stuck on the international space station until he can raise enough money to pay for a spaceflight home
