Lowell_Skoog
With my brother Carl (right) in Icicle Canyon, April 1984. Carl captioned this photo, "Kodachrome Climbers." As evidence of my cheapskate tendencies, I still have (and use) those sweatpants. Good times...

area51
This is also for the sub-category 'poor fashion decisions'.... Probably 1986 - Feeeraayss toooo! beer points if you name the boulder problem! And yes that is the front page of the local paper.... (now at mom's house). ScaredSilly
Was fondling through some old slides and thought this one would be good as it was the center fold image for an issue of Summit back in the mid 80s. Note the styling tube socks and chocks. And of course a Whillans harness!! Hey Shapp recognize the rock? markwebster
Me on Karate, 1983. I think I had 3 cams back then, the rest were hexes and stoppers. PA rock shoes and white painter pants. Forrest swami, and home sewn leg loops. My wife Sue at Smith, '82. Not many women climbers back then, I was one of the lucky ones. My buddy Mark L., leading Son of Sam, Yosemite Apron 1982? with stoppers and Fierys. That thing is a *lot* easier with small cams. Sue (preggers with Clint [now 24]) Craig and I at jtree 1984 with my famous gremlin, loved that car.
mark1980
That guy on Son of Sam, in a Whillans harnes, thinks it was 85 or 86. Clint was close to brand new on that trip.

(High Valley, Oregon - Do Or Fly 5.10) Well hell yes, I have climbed 30 times probably, my favorite 30 foot route! although I thin 5.9+ is better (a little sandbag never hurt anyone, well maybe?) OlegV
Nastia, your genetically pre-engineered skill to bend like an April leaf should be handy on a variety of north western dihedrals. Your gender-specific skills may be very well advantageous on rock. Although a different sport, but close enough...
