So anyway, we're excited. shit, anybody want to donate a good baby carrier....? To all the dads and moms on the site, I know having/raising a child is the most important thing you do in your life, and I'm excited to start that journey thanks guys Quote
olyclimber Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Congratulations Luke! Let me know what sort of stuff you need, I'll get some something in the mail. Quote
Distel32 Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 Thanks Oly, I'll let you know! can't believe it took almost an hour for a response....... Quote
Dru Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 if its a girl you can name her lisa, and if a boy, fred hopefully the baby will not look too much like layton.... Quote
Off_White Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Yeah, that is pretty big news Luke, glad to hear you're psyched about it. Now, tell us about this girl, how come you haven't brought her around to meet us? Quote
Distel32 Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 haha, anybody have a friend in the state department to give her a visa right now???? if not, then summer 2007 we should be coming home. Quote
ivan Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 imperialist defiler!!! my 2nd's coming along next week - luckily i don't imagine having spawn will cut into yer bouldering too much - sad, actually, the mate-rage is ever so much more delectable when departing for a multi-day sketchy-thing beyond all telecom! Quote
RuMR Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Luke...this is gonna rock your world like nothing has before! Congrats, kid!!! I've got my third on her way...I wished that i had started earlier... Quote
olyclimber Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 While the child is still in the womb, I highly suggest starting him/her on a bouldering regimen so that upon birth you can enter your retirement plan into bouldering contests the 1-6 month division. Soon you will all be swimming in 100 dollar bills. My son is taking the highly lucrative junior alpine climber hero career path, and I anticipate that he'll be buying me a new house and car anytime now. Quote
tomtom Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Congradulations to the Happy Couple (soon to be three)! Quote
foraker Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I can't tell you anything about having and raising kids but I can tell you about all the fun you'll now have with the INS....oops....I mean USCIS..... Quote
selkirk Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Sweet, congratulations Luke . Too bad about the wait for the visa. Had some friend get married in Hungary and even after the wedding it still took 3 or 4 months Quote
sweatinoutliquor Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Congrats dude! !!! When I first read this part: We'll find out in 2 weeks if m/f. I read "We'll find out in 2 weeks if it's my fault." Goes to show that I'm not quite parenting material yet! Anyway, good luck, and again congrats! Quote
ryland_moore Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Congrats! Won't you have to make an honest woman of her first before trying to get her back to the U.S.? I had a friend who married his girlfriend over in the Phillippines two years ago and his wife is still not back yet!!!! He is so frustrated, but it is now a really big hassle and he is going broke flying over there three times a year just to visit her. Ever since 9/11, things have been really hard getting through all of the red tape. I wish you luck. I'd recommend you get a lawyer asap to help you through this. Quote
foraker Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Lawyers won't help you on this. THey can't make the Feds do anything faster. Just dot all your i's and cross all your t's on the forms and that's all you can do. In fact, that's all the immigration lawyers do. They have no magic mojo stick that they use on the Feds. Quote
olyclimber Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 you might retain Abramoff...perhaps he could grease the skids. Quote
Stefan Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Congrats. You are now entering the most stressful part of your life--I don't know how long it will last but so far it has lasted me five years. Trust me. I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old. Sometimes it is fun, but it is also not everything it is cracked up to be. They are not always cherubs.....like I was. Quote
MatthewS Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 When I filed an application for my wife's green card, I found this message board to be somewhat useful: https://www.visapro.com/Message-Board/index.php? Of course, you'll want to double/triple-check any advice you get from a public forum. Good luck figuring out which forms you need! (ugh!) Quote
olyclimber Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 oh, i don't know about that. it all happens so fast. i imagine it can be more stressful when the little urchins get old enough to really antagonize and terrorize you....say...the teen years. Quote
Dechristo Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Congratulations, Distel, on sending your current high-ball project. Quote
minx Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Geez--I remember the first 3 years of parenthood being the least stressful. He was a pretty happy little infant and pretty cute toddler. There were definitely stressful moments but sheesh--no more than the number of stressful days I had anyway. After he learned to say "no" things got way more stressful Quote
DirtyHarry Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 (edited) Shit man I didn't even know you were old enough to drink chang. Crazy. Oh, your kid is supposed to be born on my birthday, BTW. Sorry. Edited March 1, 2006 by DirtyHarry Quote
ChrisT Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 OMG!! This is HUGE news. Congrats! Babies are sooooooooooo much fun! Quote
foraker Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 After he learned to say "no" things got way more stressful I thought parents knew how to say 'no' too. Or is that 'old school'? Quote
