  1. It won't be a real history unless you mention greasing and pig rigging.
  2. I got me a loaner. Thanks for the offer Timmy.
  3. You just can't wait to have the Icicle shut down to climbing.
  4. OK, so I've been trying to be a good boy and not start something, but I'm currious about this factor 1.8 fall you took. Now most folks say, "dude I took this wipper," but apparently Paul is out climbing with measuring tape so he can talk about the exact fall factor.
  5. If you live in the Seattle area and have a Smith Rocks guide I'd like to partner up with your guide book for on Wednesday thru the weekend. Actually you can come climbing too, but I'm going to an event ( ) near Corvallis on Saturday which might involve getting high and climbing, but it definitely wont involve climbing rock. Basically I'm too cheap to buy a guide book when I know there's a new one in the somewhat near future.
  6. I'm with you lets develope a strike force to make countries establish wilderness areas. It's our duty. Either that or we could raise the fleet mpgs of vehicles in which case we could free up more oil than is in ANWR and thus save the Saudi desert. Sorry, I'm sure it's better to subsidise big companies to drill in wilderness areas...clearly that's the best use of taxpayers dollars.
  7. So what you're saying is that we should drill in ANWR and send a division or two of soldiers to Saudi Arabia to take their desert land as a wilderness area.
  8. I bet you'll be near the summit.
  9. Everything you and Don have done has just been leading up to this.
  10. I think they simplified them when GW came into office. 123-456-789. That's all you need for world domination.
  11. Dude you expect me to read some masive paragraph...get real So how do you like working at Nordstroms anyway???
  12. Hey Mr Knee Jerk(Fairweather) I think a lot of people understand what gets lost with wilderness designation. If you'd bothered to read some of the posts above you'd see that. I agree that the designation cuts out many things that should be allowed. I agree that roads and trails should be maintained. I think you should be able to use power tools to do so as well. I also know that climbing may be restricted by wilderness designation. I still support the wilderness because the alternative is much worse. Both the USFS and the BLM have a history of leasing out our land at ridiculously low rates. Not only does land under the agencies jurisdiction get trashed they also get an extremely low return on the use.

    Cascadia WTF?

Ha, I just watched that movie last night.
  14. 1978
  15. I'm not sure it's really that bad. I eat meat somebody else killed all the time. How is it any worse than what goes on in a slaughter house? The guy owns the ranch, so it's not like you're shooting some rare endangered species. You've gotta get a hunting license too. As long as the dead animals don't get wasted then what's the big deal?
  16. What about climbing the stairs???
  17. Sorry wrong birthday...but next month he'll be old like the rest of us.
  18. I wouldn't be too quick to defend Boeing these days Fairweather. They're mired in controversy, and according to what I hear the attitude of engineering teams suck compaired to the old days. In the old days Boeing was all about the product; these days they're all about boosting the price of their stock.
  19. You don't have much to say about the inverted curve (I think) between long term and short term interest rates Peter. Allen Greenspan called it troubling, and the present conditions have been a precurrsor of recessions in all of the last recessions. Plus I hear the price of oil is going way up in the near future.
  20. Not at all. They still are rebuilding even though they aren't on the front page.
  21. Even if it was DPS isn't nearly nasty enough to tangle with the crew I was with. Unless we were already fighting amongst ourselves.
  22. That pin has been there for 20 years. It's not as good as when it was first placed; I wouldn't want to fall on it. At this point placing a bolt next to it may be an option to consider.
  23. You weren't the only all male group climbing, as I was there with CJZ, Rat, and TFM. In fact 2 of us were sitting on the tailgate and the other 2 sitting on packs on the side of the road below Cocain Crack Saturday afternoon. Were you the freek who yelled, "Heyyy," at CJZ? I believe we were watching some climber on the buttress above and talking about our plans for the evening. We climbed a bunch of stuff on Icicle buttress and JY crag this weekend. It sounds like you and Dr. Don did a bunch of driving shopping and shitting.
  24. I forgot he was on the FA of D1. That route is fucking steep. Bob Kamps.
  25. ^BUMP^ That side of the valley is snowy and cold, but all the south facing crags are ready to rock.
