Talking about cutting off funding to military contractors or talking about adding funding to any other government services are both unpatriotic. You should be ashamed

I'm liberal, but I have my own business. Basically I'm a capitalist, and I'll start yelling at you if you work for me but aren't working as hard as I think you should be or are doing something stupid. On the other hand I pay fairly and I don't screw my employees like Walmart does. How does that fit with your paradime Brian? Oh yeah and I don't have a truck requiring a CDL because I think piss tests are facist.

I lived in Boulder for a few years. I never liked the granite in Boulder Canyon. It wasn't chossy, but it sucked in some way. Lumpy's pretty cool; you do have to get used to flairing cracks. I loved Eldo, but it really isn't that big a place, so it's easy to burn out on it. RMNP has a lot of good granite, and it's basically a high alpine cragging area. The only other place I climbed at a lot was Veedawoo; and that place has some awsome granite cragging. All in all there's good cragging around Boulder, but I would say that Colorado lacks any true alpine climbing; at least by my definition...you should see the things they call glaciers. CO may get an advantage over WA in terms of cragging, but Rudy brought up an excellent point that there are a lot of assholes in Boulder. In fact that negative totally outweighs any advantage they might have in craggs or good cragging weather.

The ulltimate disgusting pupet movie.

You don't have to do anything you don't want to, even if it means wracking up a huge rescue bill because you didn't buy the insurance. Then again you don't have to pay the bill...GW and the State Department will protect you from those commie euro bill collectors.

You sir are a fucking hippy; the rest of you are pig fuckers.

It's not looking that way this week.

From what I've read you are right in saying that there is a general warming trend that is outside of human control however the majority of science supports the conclusion that humans have had major impact on the rate of warming over the last 100+ years. Now I'm no scientist, so I'm just relaying what I've read that by all accounts is the majority view. I'm not sure what you do, but I don't think you are an atmospheric scientist, so I'm not going to put much weight to your, "views," on climate change. The real question is one of how bad it's going to be and what we should do about it, which is like I said above more of an economic and thus political decision.

This weekend I finally did my taxes...now I've just got to pay up I also made Mike Adamson really mad over at Ass.com...must not hit the hornet nest with a stick.

I'm sure you can find lots of science that has flaws in logic or is biased, however if somebody conducts a study and reports it others are bound to try and reproduce the experiment, especially if the results are unexpected. In the long run bad science can not be reproduced. It seems to me the whole cold fusion thing is a good example. The idea was presented and other scientists tried to duplicate the experiment. In relativly short order the idea of cold fusion was dismissed. In the case of global warming the majority of science has supported the findings since 1995. The real question right now is more of an economic decision, however folks resistant to changes in the status quo try and prevent change by claiming bad science.

That's a thought, what if you could reduce your electric bill by running on a treadmill...hmm.

You could get rid of your stick clip with one of those.

Well it isn't a perpetual motion machine because it's using an outside power source ie the wind up high. As long as the energy it absorbs from the wind is sufficient it'll stay up and provide power.

What about all the embedded reporters. Are they not just tools of US policy? Don't they take photos of violence perpitrated by the US government? Is that somehow different than violence perpetrated by forces opposed to the US.

Please show me where I ever said that Fox news or, conservative talk radio need to be restricted. Way to jump to conclusions; but I suppose I shouldn't be supprised that kind of crappy thinking is what makes you a conservative. There is no proof that the photos in Iraq were staged; in fact the potographers had to run for their lives after the croud saw them taking photos. If the photo was staged don't you think the photo journalist would be invited to the event and encouraged to take pictures. Right or wrong there is always a lot of fucked up shit that goes on in war. That's what the picture of the contractors hanging from the bridge captures. I guess you and Pete don't have the stomach for viewing some of the concequences of going to war. Thats supprising concidering we were totally justified...I mean Sadam had all those biological and nuclear weapons that we found...(oh sorry he didn't )

I agree with Peter Puget and Fairweather. We should only be shown hapy friendly images of war...troops skipping off to battle, or happy familys burying pesky family members who were so fortuitously killed in battle. All those other pictures are just downers. What say we get rid of the first amendment so those wise people in charge can show us happy pictures and punish those trouble makers who are just so negative.

I heard the same report that Winter did. The AP hired and trained a number of Iraqies as photographers. The photographers did take a lot of risks getting the photos that are part of the prize. They were not random people hawking pictures of death to the AP.

Fuck String Cheese Incident, fuck Phish, fuck the dead, and fuck you hippy.

Oh come on you're smarter on that. The article isn't suppose to be either good or earth shattering. It's just an excuse to put pictures of hot chicks in the magazine. The goal is to boost the mags circulation. You ever heard of the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit issue. They need some body paint in there...and maybe a sheep or two.

Well then Women = 2*(SQRT(evil))

NOLSe, What often happens here to you is much like what happens when sharks smell blood in the water. You become the focus of a feeding frenzy. My advice is to follow one of 3 courses of action: One is to walk away. This can be hard to do, but it is the easiest thing to do if you don't have the temperment for the next 2. The next strategy is summed up by the best defence is a good offence. Go on the attack; don't try and be logical just go for the throat. This strategy is most effective if you can develope allies. A hint...you don't have to always get along with your allies. The third strategy is to deflect the attack. This is often the the most subtle one to pull off; so you may want to forget it till you've mastered #2. If you'd like advanced training I suggest spending a weekend with CrazyJZ, Rat, and a pallet of beer. At the end of the weekend you will either be strong enough to take the abuse head on or need to spend time in a mental ward. Anyhow for my part I'm going to try and walk away from bashing you; you're just too easy to get to. You're enthusiastic about climbing, which means you've got some big positive points in my book.

Intrawest and new huts on Spearhead traverse
AlpineK replied to Zoran's topic in British Columbia/Canada
Jordo The american environmentalists dislike of structures like huts is fucking lame. Washington State could use some huts in the mountains; the wild areas of BC are much much bigger. If you want people to support parks and wild lands you need to get them out in it. Huts help in that respect. The also help consolidate the human footprint in a popular area. Instead of having 30 freeform campsites and folks shitting everywhere you can have one hut and an outhouse.
