The Lower Fraser had well below normal snowpacks as of February 1, with a Snow Water Index of only 40% of normal. This is a substantial reduction from the January 1 index value. The extremely low snowpack levels throughout the lower Fraser result, in part, from the significant melt and runoff experienced during mid-January, when an intense Pacific frontal system moved onto the south coast, producing high rainfall and elevated freezing levels. Anyway I'm sure you're right Dru because you have the more energy to post.

Yeah 30 cm of snow...that's huge dude.
-
Actually most forecasters got it right. Only the guys from OR fucked up.
-
That does sound reasonable, however the story I heard on the subject said that he was opposed to a wind farm anywhere near Cape Cod.
-
I never saw it in the ice forum, so I'm glad carolyn posted it here.

nice photo. No snow

Actually he's mad that you and I ganged up on him.

Was flipping through talk radio stations last night and listened to that idiot O'Reilly for a few minutes. He had (I believe) R. Kennedy Jr. on as a guest. He claimed that the US could eliminate dependence on mideast oil and reduce emissions significantly by raising gas mileage 7 or 8 m.p.g. Seems doable, and a reasonable step in the right direction to me. Unfortunately, it is being blocked by *both* parties because of special interests. I have to admit I heard a recent story about planned windmills off Cape Cod. It seems that the main opposition to the project came from people like the Kenedys who's basic fear is the plan would wreck property values. I figure that we're human and we're going to fuck something up no matter what we do, but we should try and do something that causes less impact. A lot of liberal groups want to do something about global warming, but they shoot down all the alternatives that are actually practical.

I thought I was making fun of jmace not you. Global warming is quite the spray gadfly around here. It doesn't matter what we say, but it is too bad that the GW crew doesn't take the problem seriously.
-
thats awesome, its this sort of thing that people who jump all over global warming forget about instead its always someones SUV blah blah blah, when someones says "I think everyone who bought a season pass should send their recipt to GW and demand a refund. " what you gonna do stop building, its little things like this that add up to make a big problem not just one thing. good points Ricardo You must have just fallen off the turnip truck. Note the at the top of my post....hello My serious oppinion is more or less what Jim just said.

Paul don't be an idiot Gore would never have invaded Afganistan or Iraq.
-
That's nice, but saying one criminal woman and a wacko prof represent all the left is pure bs. Like I said earlier there are lots of bad actors on the right side of the spectrum.
-
I think everyone who bought a season pass should send their recipt to GW and demand a refund.

Or bolt a crack (on rappel) next to a crack Dwayner & Pope are climbing. Make sure to place bolts every 3 feet for extra credit. Ummm excuse me...wouldn't that imply that Don and Poop actually climbed. ....hello

All of the mods agree that tr's shouldn't be sprayed on, however you've gotta recognize that we don't moderate as a full time job and 20 obnoxious posts can pile up in a few minutes. I'm afraid there are a lot of people who loose control when see a TR from Der Toof.

I don't think political ideology really is the issue here. She commited a crime and now she's going to have to pay as she should. I'm sure I could dig a bit and come up with examples of conservatives who fit that bill. As far as the prof goes he does have the right to express his oppinion as long as he does so in a scholarly manor. I'm not in a position to pass judgement either way. It is a controversial view no doubt.

Intrawest and new huts on Spearhead traverse
AlpineK replied to Zoran's topic in British Columbia/Canada
I first heard talk of that about a year ago. Right now there's one hut below Fissel. I've heard talk of either 2 more on the route of the Spearhead or one at Wedge Pass just north of the Spearhead range. -
According to this thing, NOLS courses is dependent upon days per week climbing. I think that you need to somehow incorporate three independent variables (days per week/NoLS courses/Years in outdoor retail) to form the dependent variable of "How much like NOLSe and Cracked am I?" So let me get this straight if I were to take 7 NOLS coursed I could climb 7.5 days a week? How does this work? Do advanced NOLS students learn how to control time?

There's some Jacky Chan movie where he rides one of those things off a cliff...fuckin rad.

I've walked under those 3 routes, and they're going to be wet and shady right now. There's some new stuff up there though. Some hard shit and one 5.8-5.9 3 pitch thing right on the prow of the buttress. They were still trundling when I was there, but it's probably good by now.

My favorite post surgery activity was to pop a bunch of pain pills and walk around and drool.
-
Yeah there's some good hiking right out of the pass. Paying to ski isn't dumb. You can get a hell of a lot more vertical at the area riding lifts. If you show up on a weekday there aren't going to be too many people there either. It all depends on what you want that day.

He only wants to talk with people who agree with him. But he still reads this site all the time...as do all those guys on ASS.com
