  1. What type of skiing do you like? What's your average DIN? How much coin you got?
  2. I've been happy with STS, or some version of it (like G3) for years. Ascension skins have let me down only a few times, usually when I drop them in the snow or something. I have bought the standard skins in the past, and then a couple of years down the road when the glue starts to weaken, added the tail attachemnets (they are available as kits.) Ditch the bag, and the skin savers, and the paper that they come on - all unnecesary IMO. BD's specific skins are precut for their skis. If you are getting BD skis, then it might be worth the extra $$$ to get the precut skins. Ascension is slightly heavier than Glidelite, otherwise... ??? I find that the skis I buy them for are usually outdated or beat before I need to reglue... that's what you get for being anal about keeping them clean and drying them properly... NOT TOO HOT!
  3. It is amusing though, from the outside...
  4. A-Basin opens tommorow... see y'all there suckas!
  5. i didn't buy a pass ... but i quit my job! WOOHOO!!! FKNA K! You gonna visit the Canadaland this winter?
  6. Water perhaps?
  7. Working in the snow today! w00t!
  8. I got CA$20, what's that, about U$25?
  9. Dunno, but apperently you can fit Salomon brake arms into Dynafit brakes with a wee bit o' dtillin'!
  10. Many people, as you may notice from the above posts, dislike the Dynafit brakes. I find that if you remove one of the two springs that actuate the brake arms then most of the problems dissapear.
  11. Nope, not yet.
  12. If you are looking for something to kep you occupied during ski seesions with gorbies and n00bs, then tele might be ideal. As for the tele vs AT debate... It's pretty rare that I am out on my tele gear these days...
  13. 10cm up high here yeaterday!
  14. I'm out of PB again I guess I'll have to make another trip to the gold ol' US of A.
  15. How about some of that kevlar cord - lighter, more flexy, and adjustable... I wonder how it would hold up??? Using pliers on swages is ugly, get your local cam trigger fixing bum to do you up right.

    Twin Sisters.....

I'd suggest posting this in the Climber's Board, it will see more traffic.
  17. Hmmm, sounds like my Sube... No problem, that sounds like a 1/2 days work, and about $300 in parts.
  18. A pair of brass ones would probably be the best choice.
  19. fern has a good deal of Megamid experience I believe. I've spent some winter time in it with her, and it worked OK, but I wouldn't want to rely on it in a howling storm, that's for sure. Some tips I have learnt (mostly from fern) -the boot well -if expecting snow, dig a trench around the tent after setting up, this goves the shedding snow somewhere to go, and keeps your walls from getting squished in. -there's so much space you don't really need to worry about the wall condensation
  20. I think that varies a lot from mountain to mountain. For example, we have quite a few good skiers on our patrol, and they don't seem bored to me. However... we have a very low accident rate, and we get to do a lot of free skiing every day. I agree though that skiing in control and solidly is the best asset for a ptroller. Getting on your skis every day will make you a better skier, so if you're other skills are up to par then you shouldn't have a problem. A good alarm clock is handy too.

    Gross me out!

Well, there goes his popularity with the ladies... I dunno about that...
  22. I used to like you timmy... Have fun for me OK? PS Remember the stump I hit? I chopped it down last week, and generally cleaned that line up a bit more... so you'll have to come back.
  23. Hi Matt: I think this is shameful that we pay to gather this info, but are not allowed access to it. I thought I heard last winter from a representative of the CAA that these wx stations were going to become publicly accesible as of this winter, but what you say seems to contradict this. I believe he told me that the gov had decided that the cost recovery proram was not worth the time or money to run it. Unfortunately I can not rememebr who I talked to about this. Perhaps you could query the CAA and see if they know anything about it... It would be great to have acces to this sort of info, especially if someone had the time and knowledge to write some nice front end stuff so we could see it in a slick visual format. I will try and find time to write the email, and if I do, I'll BCC you on it. [edit] done, check your admin @ mailbox... and I crosspopsted to TGR...[/edit] snoboy
  24. Was like manna from heaven, and that is from somebody who worked for 10 hours outdoors. Thank goodness the heat is over.
