I have dealt with a number of broken ankles (other people's) who thought they were only sprained. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you are asking me... get thee to a doctor! Having said that, I kind of doubt that getting out of bed would be sufficient mechanism of injury to break a bone, OTOH, people break ankles by stepping off the curb !

Thanks for that info (sources.) I had long thought that I had heard this arguement, and found it beleivable. I couldn't back it up though, and lately it has become relevant as our town council passed a resolution yesterday to make our town plastic bag free... The solution being offered is reusable bags, not paper, but I wonder if it will up the usage of paper bags. We already do don't we???

Well, it' an old thread, but this is how I buy stuff, takes me forever. I ended up with the OR Exos Pant. It has thigh pockets, but they are super low profile. The cuff has a zipper, so it will fit my boots (Lasers now, not T1s) and it is made from stretch Cordura. I'm really liking some of OR's new stuff. Probably going to pick up a pair of Extravert gloves next season - finally a tech glove with a wool liner!

I don't know if this is the same crew, but there was an exploratory permit awarded recently (last season???) for Wadd. BTW - This might get more exposure in the freshiezone.

We use this technique to increase friction when evacuating chairlifts. It works very well.

Since you already pointed out some of your mistakes, I hope you don't mind if I point out another interesting point. I think that we tend to get comfortable on our home turf, and think in the back of our heads that we know an area really well. There is sometimes the little voice that says, "I've never seen this slide before..." Well, sometimes 100 or 200 yr old trees get smoked, so what we have seen is really an insignifigant data point. Thanks for sharing, glad you got lucky.
