  3. They've been making outerwear in China for a couple of years now at least. My Chinese jacket and pants are of the same quality (ie miles better than most anything else) as my Canadian made pieces were. I buy it because it works for me, and the customer service is excellent.

  10. There is a really good thread over on the TGR boards about vibraming alpine boots. For skinning you don't need vibram though, more for hiking in the spring and scrambling up the gnar... A three piece like the Flexon tours pretty well I've been told. Try Daleboot - they claim to fit anyone, and might be able to do something aout a walk mode.

  18. That's probably the news media getting confused between avalanche beacons and PLBs. For those who are unfamiliar, avalanche beacons are usually only good up to about 50yds or so. They are intended for self rescue by members of your own party. PLBs are longer range and designed for SAR groups to come and find you.
