Does Bret have a brother Bruce?

We use this technique to increase friction when evacuating chairlifts. It works very well.

Since you already pointed out some of your mistakes, I hope you don't mind if I point out another interesting point. I think that we tend to get comfortable on our home turf, and think in the back of our heads that we know an area really well. There is sometimes the little voice that says, "I've never seen this slide before..." Well, sometimes 100 or 200 yr old trees get smoked, so what we have seen is really an insignifigant data point. Thanks for sharing, glad you got lucky.

Try again, seems to be working now...

Wow, that sounds like some great customer service.

Because they are fairly solid, have less slop than other bindings, and they tour so well.

I think tommorow is day 40.

It can be faster for multipitch aid climbing apparently.

The pins are also longer on the Comfort, so there is less chance of releasing from the flex of the ski. There is tons of Dynafit info over at Wildsnow.com

I went catskiing today. :D :D Tommorow I get to blow things up...

Same here, Kurt, but for different reasons... I simply seem to be straying far from the path.

FKNA, Oregon is beautiful.

Awesome buddy. I think if you are able you should come to skiIn just to be MC and head pancake chef, even if you shouldn't ski.

I don't think I have ever gotten up this early for Christmas, even when I was a kid! The weather was calling for 12-20cm on Sunday night, and we knew we would be up at 4:45 for avalanche control. I decided that a little pictorial would be a good (if a bit late) Christmas stoke gift for you all. clicks on the pics will get you bigger goodness. Unwrapping one of my first gifts 10cm in town, and 15cm up top - Riding the chair in the dark, through the tail end of the storm. Look real closely, the downhill chair is just visible - This pic is pretty bad, but it captures the feeling pretty well IMO, kind of fuzzy and blurred. We are building the bombs here before we head out on the contol routes. - Tieing one on. We use various tricks to get the bombs right where we want them. Here I am tieing one on to a rope to hang it out over a nice little gulley. The air blast is more effective that simply hucking it into the snow. It also keeps it from sliding down to the bottom in hard slab conditions. 2kg of dynamite, and I haven't even had a coffee yet... - Here my route partner, Andrew gets ready to light the fuse and toss the bomb. - Putting big holes in the middle of runs is our speciality - First public chair crests the rollover at the top of the mountain! - Early bird gets the worm. - Afternoon, and I hook up with some friends to clean up the last of the goods on the hill. - The last few chairs coming to the top as the day draws to an end. - Beaver's little brother waits for sweep to start. - Tired and hungry, time to go home and eat turkey... Another late Christmas gift on the way tonight...

Please buy yourself some new gear. Dual frequency transceivers are doubtful at best these days, and the newer stuff is way easier to use. The older beacons will experience frequency drift, and the newer beacons, especially the digital models may not pick them up at all. Read some of the stuff here, especially the one that starts with "Obsolesence."

The best trick for skiing in really flat light is to continue skiing and close your eyes for 5-10s. When you open them, it will seem like the light has improved...
