I did it yesterday. Book is smack on correct for the standard route. Go to col. take shelf on west side, go past very large boulder, go up to notch in SE ridge. Mostly class 2. then go down an exposed class 3 crack to another shelf on the east side. follow shelf first going down, then up to NE side of mountain. then go up couloir...but was filled with snow when I did it. final section is exposed class 3 crack next to slabby summit area.

If you were on the south side of Baker I would recommend the Park Butte Lookout, or Dock Butte Lookout....but I have no idea where Snow Water is either

Why does someone always feel they have to say this when we've got a good weather gripe session going on? 1. Oh, hey, I guess the weather can be unpredictable and sketchy here. You have probably unlocked some deep truth here the rest of us didn't understand. And you're tougher than us. 2. No shit. 3. If you don't let weather dictate your life, you will die on a mountain in a storm. gripe all yer want. a couple of turns in the rain is better than watching golf or helping a friend move. hell, I would rather get my fingers cold and wet on rock in icicle creek than wanking on this site.

you might have to alter your plans....but you can still climb something. Any weekend called off for weather is a wasted weekend you will never get back in your life.

Great work you two. -
I am not a gun owner and not around many people who do own guns. But I do find it troubling that I do not see the NRA taking a more active role in educating about gun handling. Maybe it is about marketing.... I bet if I saw more of the NRA doing education about guns then other people might not be so "against them". Kinda like Budweiser putting out commercials on responsible drinking so there is less potential drunk drivers.

A similar analogy can be made for climbers wanting to climb Denali. The price of flights for climbers into the Denali basecamp are kept low by tourists wanting flights around Denali. The "non-climbers" are helping the climbers. Now let's say the road remains at its current state. What is going to happen? The road will not see as many people, nor will the other trails connecting off the road will see as many people. What will happen is loss of trails becuase of lack of access becuase the "non-climbers" are not using these trails. There are more "non-climbers" than climbers using the trails. And I can tell you that only trails where people use them are being maintained--this is a fact. You need the "non-climbers" to help you out for trails. It would be a shame to let go of all the efforts of those who created the trails to go to waste. For example, I was up the Freezeout Creek drainage this past weekend. There are about 300 downed trees on that trail--probably has not been maintained in 15-20 years becuase of only the very first 300 yards of trail are wiped out. It is a shame to see the efforts for those that created the Freezeout trail go to waste. Eliminating a road or a trail is like chopping bolts on established routes.

parenting and being a father or mother aint difficult folks. It is work, but most of you have it in your heads becuase of the innateness of the skills. how do I know this? 99% of the world is good....and we all had parents....sometimes one...sometimes two... $100+K peshaw. Not everybody can be a teacher. Not everybody can be a TS dude. There are a lot of people who have chosen to be a mother though....

I would support privatization of toll roads only if I saw a reduction in my taxation dollars. Driving is not right. It is a privilege, and toll roads means I could vote with my dollar. But if I saw no reduction in tax dollars then I would be pissed.

I take the sounder train sometimes. Fricken cool. Always on time. Always. Minimal stops. There is absolutely no congestion that it runs into. I agree light rail should have stopped at Southcenter. Put a park and ride there, and you would see a larger jump in people using the light rail than what they are planning. Park and rides are the thing for America (not as in Europe) for transportation issues. It is a mix of car and mass transit.
