The Hitchhiker, Kautz on Rainier, Hyperspace, The Grand Wall, three trips to Tieton, a three day trip to squamish, numerous day trips to Leavenworth/Exit 38/Index if that's what I get in a "crappy" summer I'll take it.

PS: Since when is there granite at Banks Lake?

PS: Since when is there granite at Banks Lake?

since the aliens planted it there, in the middle of a sea of basalt

Aliens, right, but they put all that granite *under* the sea of basalt. :laf:

That's some, ummm, interesting tights you're sporting there, sobo... must have been pretty traumatic for your belayer
She didn't mind at all. Just "warmed her up" for that evening. :)

socks in climbing shoes are only ok if they are knee-high tube socks and EBs, or if they are moccasyms worn over baggy wool socks, Cairns-style
I may be a whore, but I'm definitely no fashion whore. :smirk:

OK . . .back on topic. Interesting tidbit from the NOAA site today:

.CLIMATOLOGY...

SEATTLE WAS ON A STREAK OF 5 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS OF BELOW NORMAL

TEMPERATURES /THROUGH AUGUST/. JULY AND AUGUST ENDED UP PRETTY CLOSE

TO NORMAL...JUST A HALF A DEGREE BELOW NORMAL FOR THE TWO MONTH

PERIOD. THE HOT SPELLS OVER THE SUMMER HAVE MASKED JUST HOW COOL IT

HAS BEEN FOR SEATTLE. TAKING A LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF DAYS WITH HIGHS

70 DEGREES PLUS SO FAR THIS YEAR THE NUMBER IS ONLY 54. THE AVERAGE

NUMBER OF DAYS WITH HIGHS 70 OR ABOVE DURING THE YEAR FOR SEATTLE IS

84. ON AVERAGE...SEATTLE WILL GET ANOTHER 11 DAYS BEFORE THE END OF

THE YEAR WITH HIGHS 70 PLUS. THE RECORD FOR THE LEAST NUMBER OF DAYS

70 PLUS IN SEATTLE AT SEA-TAC IS 46 DAYS IN 1955. THE TOP 5 IS

ROUNDED OUT BY 53 DAYS IN 1954...65 DAYS IN 1980 AND 1964 AND 66

DAYS IN 1956. 1954...1955...1956 AND 1964 WERE ALL LA NINA YEARS. IT

IS CERTAINLY POSSIBLE THAT THIS YEAR WILL END UP IN THE TOP 5 FOR

THE LEAST NUMBER OF DAYS WITH HIGHS 70 PLUS. FELTON

Although I hate to admit it, the whiners may have a point....

I think 54 days, 30 less than usual, warrants a little whining.

Doesn't mean we can't make the best of what's left, or that we have anything really to complain about since we live in the most glorious place I can honestly imagine.

.HYDROLOGY... THE FIRST MAJOR RAINSTORM OF AUTUMN WILL PROBABLY AFFECT WRN WA THE END OF NEXT WEEK. THIS PAC STORM WILL LIKELY TAP INTO MOISTURE FROM THE REMNANTS OF TYPHOON FANAPI...CURRENTLY SE OF TAIWAN. THE MEDIUM RANGE SOLUTIONS WERE IN IN GOOD AGREEMENT THAT THE REGION WILL BE IMPACTED BY A POTENT PAC STORM...ARRIVING IN WAVES...NEXT FRI THRU NEXT SUNDAY. THIS SYSTEM WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF PRODUCING TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF 10 INCHES ON THE SW FACING SLOPES OF THE OLYMPICS AND IN EXCESS OF 4 INCHES ON THE SW FACING SLOPES OF THE N CASCADES.

Yeah
