Rising waters may wash away your beers, which are pretty close to neutral buoyancy, even without human intervention. I lost beer in the Sierras in this way years ago. If people really stole it that's sad, but just means you need to find a better stashing spot, forego ritual swilling, or be willing to drink warm beer like the hardier brits.
