I'd recommend foregoing Banos in favor of checking out Otavalo. You can day trip to Papallacta(sp?) which is a much nicer hot springs. We skipped the typical Guagua acclimitazation hike and went right to the illinizas instead and was happier for it. Do the Ramp route on Sur--its a very fun route.
