  1. Dan--get a copy of the Dodge book. It will keep you busy for a while. Other fall spots: Opal Creek Wall, Adventure Choss in the Gorge, Mt. Washington, Lambertson Butte, Illumination Rock. There's plenty of stuff out there to get on, its just a quality of rock/amount of work+time equation. Different strokes.
  2. I'm with NOLSe on this. You're young, not a lot of experience so buy gear thats a bit more versatile. Go with at least the 60M length.
  3. Buy 60M length. You may not always need the extra length but when you need it, it will be there. I've come up short with my 50M rope many times and I remember every one. I can't remember a single time when I said to myself "damn, I wish I had brought a shorter rope."

    Pets! Thread

My wife has an African Gray Timneh
  5. Oregon's really cracked down on tickets lately. Used to be you could show in court for a reduction, even if you plead guilty. Now its BOHICA BABY!
  6. Yeah--I got a similar setup, including brand new skins, for less than 200.
  7. Quote of the weekend "Are y'all hunters?" Disappointing that Timmy and Fejas were absent. In honor of Fejas I climbed "Round Here" and damn near peeled off when Ivan started singing Counting Crows. Kudos to TG for his incredible generosity and being one of the best climbing partners a person could have. Special thanks to Jlag for the beta on the Mudd Pile and for going the extra mile to make sure we hit the right spot. First rounds on me my friend. Style points go out to Shred for his culinary talents as we ate dry bagels and wiped the drool from our chins.
  8. Tru dat! Same goes for ski poles.
  9. Ireneo and myself aided up Pipeline last saturday. Just be aware that if someone walks up and wants to freeclimb a route you are aiding, etiquette dictates you get out of their way.
  10. Beacon has some nice practice lines. So does Broughtons. If Madrone was open, it too has some nice practice lines.
  11. Exactly
  12. Dunno about the TWISTED SISTER but I bet FEJAS has the COUNTING CROWS lined up! Snowbyrd, you can't reserve sites at Grasslands. Just look for the congregation of vehicles, and one very large truck.
  13. Steve--I'll be there around 10 and will take care of this for you.
  14. Got a time frame for this?
  15. NPR just did a story on her as an example of how the Chambers of Commerce are funneling huge amounts of money into various campaigns across the country in support of pro-business candidates.
  16. Hey Tex-- Have you posted to rec.climbing? There is a regular to the board there named Karl Baba who may be able to hook you up. Let me know if you need any help. Good luck!

    Terminal Gravity

Do you even know what he is talking about? The Horses Ass (or Horse Brass) is a pub in Portland. Fuck bottles--just get a kegerator!

    VP Debate

I thought both candidates showed a lot of class in reference to Cheney's daughter. I also felt it was a pretty close debate with neither side scoring any serious body blows.
  19. Beautiful work!

    YIKES!!

You're a bit slow on the draw today Paul
  21. Its my understanding that a dead peregrine was found by a climber but was not actually killed by the climber. I, too, heard rumors that a climber had killed a peregrine but frankly the source that told me this is highly unreliable.
  22. I live about 2 blocks from the Cat. You better wear a respirator when you go in there or you'll be needing one when you get out. The barmaids are cougars so be careful. You'll need a half-ton pickup to get them home.
  23. It took almost 10 minutes to troll you on that Iain. You must be busy at work.
  24. If this is all you require for 'proof' of an incident then you obviously believe in the tooth fairy, santa claus, dead aliens in area 54, Debbie Gibson is pregnant with Mojo Nixon's lovechild, etc. etc. You are doing the same thing you discredit others on here for: assuming something is true just because someone else said it. Got facts?
  25. Part of the whole point behind Smith fest is hanging out with everyone, sharing some brews, buds, stories and comaraderie. If thats not your thing then the motel is definitely the place to hang, however I would ask myself why I am choosing to go this weekend of all weekends if putting faces to online personalities and hanging out with all these asshats isn't one of the goals. I dont rememebr fejas doing any kegstands. That explains the boombox he left on my truck though. I will have three chairs with me that were left over from last year, one of which is muffies. The remaining two are up for grabs.
