  1. I think for a reasonably fast party its pretty doable in a day w/o fixing. Above first three pitches only place you may choose to aid would be the rotten block and you can just pull on gear. I wouldn't think a 70 m would be adequate to fix first three, I would think its at least 100 m but I don't really remember.
  2. The way I understand it is that companies with over than 50 employees will be required to provide insurance to their employees; companies with under 50 get tax breaks if they do but aren't required. One pitfall I can see is that this plan may cause companies to hire more workers as 1099 contractors instead of as employees in order to avoid paying them benefits. Does anyone know if the bill addresses this problem at all?
  3. Tijuana Taco in Monroe!!
  4. PM Sent.

  8. Nice jorb gettin a lot of pitches in off the beaten path while I was fighting the crowds at Index. Not that I'm complaining. That was rad too.
  9. Wow. Did Kevbone steal your password or what?
  10. I'm a big fan of Josh Lewis's TR's. He's into the stream of consciousness style with all the details. Even if he's not doing the hardest routes in the world (yet), he's psyched and he gets after it, and he's like 15. So props to him.

    funny shit

Not much else going on the midwest in the middle of winter I guess.
  12. "If you’re climbing in dry conditions (summertime climbing only, etc.), save some money and buy a dry rope. They don’t handle ice and rain very well, but they’re dramatically cheaper than non-dry ropes." What a dumbfuck. Dude in the picture is wearing a tree climbing harness. Idiot.

  14. As demonstrated by one author's penning of the ultimate Trip Report, which begins with, "We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when ..."
  15. Kit probably liked it b/c it was better for hauling kegs with.
  16. Except when he says "let's use my 11mm 50m"
  17. Well someone had to fly while he drank his wodka.
  18. Josh Lewis gets after it. Nice!
  19. In my experience Beals have always performed well -light and handle well - but not that durable, maybe best for snow and ice. I had a pair of Edelweiss doubles, not the lightest in the world. But hell, those things survived a trip to Alaska, a couple ice climbing trips to Canada, tons of alpine routes in the Cascades, and the NE Ridge of Mt. Alberta. Finally retired them b/c I figured I should, not b/c they were damaged at all. I currently have some Mammut doubles and a 9.7. I love the way they handle, but we'll see how durable.

  22. I love OSHA's response the this whole deal: We told you swimming with Killer Whales was inherently dangerous! Strong work Team Obvious.
