  1. My old Ultimate Direction pack has served me well. The hip belt design carries the load without bouncing. Snugtop is right, carring nothing is the best, but the smaller pack offers a place to keep the ipod, keys and treats. We like to run out at Red Rocks, great trails and excellent all mountain training with incredible views!

Just a tip: As yummy as your pot brownies are, Easter is not the time to "test them".
  3. Stand back and look at the thing. They call it onsighting, but a good once over can tell a lot. Gear placements, route finding, rests...It's all there. Being really strong helps too.
  4. Did ya solo The Bone ?
  5. I want to be a Bigfoot
  6. We spent the weekend snorkeling at Lake Mead. Nice temps (101) and the water was a warm 76 degerees. You know,...climbing kinda sucks compared to lazing about, chasing fish and finding so many old beer cans.
  7. A super solid high steel rigging boot! Quite a few of the riggers here in Vegas wear NACC's You can safely hang from your ankles at high steel without fear of ankle slippage. The semi flat soles ensure that the errant bolt or conduit will not trip you up as you walk the low steel.
  8. The napkins! did they take the napkins?
  9. This sounds stupid, but make sure to cut the chain in 5,7 or 9 link pieces. That way, when you add the quicklink, the chain faces the right way for the ropes to be threaded.
  10. I might not be a resident or even a active climber in my home state, but this issue is one that affects every climber, like it or not. I believe that the only way our voices can be heard is to ...speak up. Please add my name to the rolls of WCC.
  11. I have a nice little falcon guide book for the area...look out for bears.
  12. Any rigging store....
  13. I stand corrected, 1:3 sounds more accurate... Brian Wilson sung it best " three guys for every girl " The only bummer is nine out of ten times she is with one of the guys (or girls).... Don't fret, there is always bouldering (ever been to Bishop on a weekend?)
  14. Come on ladies, these fellas love women! Climbing just happens to be a quasi death sport and sadly does not attract many fine honeys. This is good and bad. Ladies: you never had it so good, 7 guys to your lonely. The guys that surrond you are fit and healthy, albeit socially inept (nothing you can't fix). Fellas: sorry, if you want girls, you are in the wrong sport. The 7:1 ratio that is a sad fact of life means that to find a climbing female it might take more time than you have to give. The road to heterosexual climbing bliss is long, but very rewarding in the end. My wife and I are best friends and full time climbing partners. Ladies, be kind to the fellas, they love you. Fellas, show the ladies some respect, we are nothing without them.
  15. You hiked into Mud Springs....Chuckwalla?

  20. When I was 13 I hiked up there with an YMCA group that included our own Forrest_M.
  21. The Washington ice climber is wise to invest in a fast car.
  22. Those kind enough to rope solo their aid climbs will appreciate the hangerless bolt drilled under the big boulder at the base. bring your own hanger and nut...
