  1. i just got some airwalk skate shoes for $7.50. I had to look through the boxes to find a pair that didn't have mayonnaise spilled on them.
  2. it's really simple actually: bring more pads. there are plenty of problems that I wont get on until I have enough pads to make me feel safe. i'm the dork that keeps adjusting the pads until they're just right. do a little walk/stomp on the pads and see if you can feel any big stumps and also realize that ankle breaking is a pretty damn common risk associated with bouldering. im sure plenty of people have climbed and fallen off that problem without breaking their ankles. hope your buddy heals up quick: plenty of fluids, multivitamin, and if he smokes let him know it will slow his healing down alot.
  3. i had a blast wearing my tips down on sharp banks lake granite this week. thanks for the stoke folks!
  4. Hey Darin- Jens Holsten here...Sol showed me this deal and with a trip to the Ruth Gorge coming up, I might be interested in buying the set up from you...is it still available? Hope your doing well. You can respond to jensholsten@gmail.com if you've got time. It was cool to see your route in Climbing too! Nice work! Jens Holsten

if ya gotta ask.... personally I do the most and my strongest climbing not when i'm on the road, but when i'm based out of somewhere and my training and recovery are more easily facilitated.
  10. pay close attention to what you are doing with your wrists and your hands when you sleep. I had similar problems and though i was doing all the remedies you mention, I was sleeping with my wrists bent under my chin. I had immediate improvements when I started sleeping with wrist guards at night. the wrist guards kept my carpal tunnel from bending and allowed me to finally get some overnight recovery. Just don't forget they're on and give your old lady a shiner in bed.
  11. the classic "mad-dog." from urban dictionary: To stare fixedly at someone in a hostile manner. Generally used to convey anger or disdain, can be a signal that a fight is about to happen. usually it's because they are insecure with their climbing or they are too cool. just this weekend I was heading down from forestland, passing a number of bouldering parties on my way out I said hello to everyone, asked how their day was, blah blah blah. as I came around the big fin at barney's rubble I saw two dudes and just as I was about to say hello this dude mad-dog's me, HARD, and looks away. I sat there for a second looking at them but they wouldn't look at me. so i laughed at em and walked away.
