gapertimmy Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 what did everyone do? there weren't many folks spraying so i want to hear some cascade hardman/woman stories. Quote
iain Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 2 great days in the sun at Smith climbing with Ryland. The only epic I suffered was I leashed Ryland's dog to a crack with the red tricam in a pocket and had to fiddle it out in the dark. Serious hardman stuff. Stupid tricams! Quote
Figger_Eight Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Me and Dwayner ran up the Toof. It was fun. Boulder hopping on ice covered rock is not so fun. Quote
DPS Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 I ran the Seattle Marathon. I had the flu. I did not enjoy the experience. Quote
Greg_W Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Here's your medal, Daniel. Good job!!! I walked the 1/2 with my wife. I never saw the winning time, but I saw the guy breeze by. Quote
DPS Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Thanks. Uli won it in 2:26. I see him running along the water front at lunch time when I run. Quote
sk Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 I ran the Seattle Marathon. I had the flu. I did not enjoy the experience. Â dang I had the flu and barely got out of bed... I thought I was a hard woman Quote
sayjay Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 more of a social weekend than anything so no rights to chestbeating here...  but did do a really nice hike up Dickerman on Saturday with an ex-climbing-partner, now-mom-of-2. views were summit is at ~5200' and the snow was only ankle-deep in most places  then walked into the big4 ice caves. great waterfalls coming down the mountain, but man where's the frickin ice!?!?!  fun part was that i swear it was well into the lower 60's on the lower part of dickerman --- i would've been happy to have on shorts and a t-shirt and sat in the sun --- but it was below freezing in the valley. amazing inversion!  hope everyone had a good one! ryland_moore Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Had a great weekend climbing with Iain at Smith and got to meet some other fellow cc.comer's like TLG, J-Dog, SEF, and others. Froze on Saturday night in the grasslands, but enjoyed the high 50's sunshine during the day! Got spanked on Heresy -hardest lead to date, but will be back on it soon now that I know the moves! All in all, an excellent Fall weekend of clipping bolts. Quote
Wallstein Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Erik, Specialed, and I got rained on while on Touchstone wall in Zion. We bailed and got drunk after spending 40 dollars on beer. It aint cheap to get drunk in Utard. Quote
sayjay Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Thanks. Uli won it in 2:26. I see him running along the water front at lunch time when I run. yah, i work with uli and he's a running machine. we went on a field experiment together and he just basically ran and ate all day! he'd go for like a 10 mile run, then come back to the apartment and have a bit to eat, then we'd go out for like a 4-6 mile run together, then he'd rest for a little while and head out running again this man lives to run... last year he won the seattle, vancouver AND portland marathons... and in the middle of all this he's getting his PhD... talk about having something to chestbeat about! Crackman Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Climbed the NE face of Hood Fri-Sat and decended the South Side. Climb is in great shape. Never expected down climbing the Pearly Gates would be the crux. Quote
kevinoregon Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 I love tricams. I never go anywhere without them. Ever! Quote
dberdinka Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 On the Upper Town Wall yesterday I had the thrill of watching my static line slowly fray over an edge as I did a free hanging jug up it. By the time I got past the damage, the sheath was half gone and the core was just starting to go. Â Talk about a near-life experience! I was feeling pretty damn alive after that was all over. <--- me Quote
Lambone Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Spent two days at Big 4 getting in shape for winter, if it ever comes... Â The inside of the moat on the first main snow cone is really nice. About 40ft of vert to overhanging blue ice. Gets kinda boring after several laps though. Quote
fleblebleb Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Took a nap on Sahale Arm getting in shape for winter, if it ever comes... Â The patches of heather on the west side of all those small clusters of trees are really nice, protected from the wind coming over the pass from the east and nicely exposed to the sun over Jberg. I think I even got a little sunburnt Quote
eric8 Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Had to work this weekend did manage to do the approach for the ne buttress of chair one day after work and pull on plastic the next. yeah i'm that hardcore Quote
snoboy Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 I drove a Unimog across BC and felt bad about the lack of Freshiez. That was my w/e. And then I carried all the stuff up a flight of stairs, so I feel like I did something in the mtns. Quote
allison Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Cut down the finest noble fir in all of the GPNF, and then gave it to my mom. Â Decried lack of time to scamper up adjacent peak. Â Mom liked the tree. Quote
Highlander Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Spent 3 days cragging in squamish. The weather was awsome and the rock was dry. Climbed alot of the local classics, and watched Texplorer take 25 ft whipper onto a yellow alien on some 11b desperate. Fun stuff. Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 (edited) Mountain bike ride at Fort Eby State Park. Great place, lots of trails and they are building more Edited December 3, 2002 by Dave_Schuldt Quote
CodyICE Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 I played on diller glacier below middle sister. Ice wasn't bad but the approach takes hours. Quote
