JosephH Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 is that a slather bag hanging from ur waist? Yeah, my buddy Marco's (and his shoes, too) as it was about 95 and a thousand percent humidity. I chalked up at the start, but then I can never remember to chalk again and didn't/don't have the head to do it in the middle of a sequence. You'd be able to tell if I had been using it because I'd have chalk up to my elbows and all over my face. Quote
sobo Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Lets see some old pictures of you guys (and gals) climbing. I expect to see some great beards and haircuts. This BITD thread is perfect, since today is my berffday! And since you specifically asked for great beards... here ya go: Top right: Ski trip w/Cherie to Apache Sunrise, Mogollon Rim, AZ, Dec. 1982 Bot right: 1/4-mile-long zipline across the Pembroke Quarry, WV, w/VA Tech Cave Club, Fall 1983 Bot left: Chugging a beer after jugging up 1,000+ feet on Whitesides Mountain, NC, w/VT Cave Club, Spring 1984 Top left: Preparing to rappel Whitesides Mountain w/VT Cave Club, Fall 1984. Then I discovered climbing, and I was never the same again... Quote
bstach Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Now I know I am old when folks consider the 90's "back in the day". Lol Quote
wfinley Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Bot left: Chugging a beer after jugging up 1,000+ feet on Whitesides Mountain, NC, w/VT Cave Club, Spring 1984 Top left: Preparing to rappel Whitesides Mountain w/VT Cave Club, Fall 1984. Whitesides as in Whitesides NC? You rapped and jugged it? Quote
sobo Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Eeee-yup! Twiced! Whitesides was also my very first big wall (Original Route w/Frank Gibson - RIP) after I gave up rappelling and started climbing (shortly after these pics were taken). It made for a very thirsty endeavor because of the heat and humidity. Quote
