glassgowkiss Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 how come US team totally sucks donkey cock in biathlon? not only they can't skate worth a crap, but they can hit targets! wtf?! for a country "based" on gun ownership it's pretty lame. even Canada has a better team!of course all the trigger happy rednecks on this site can come up with a long list of excuses. just a reminder: 1.in sports second is as good as last 2. excuses are like assholes- all of them look the same and all of them stink 3.T-A=0 Quote
genepires Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 two replies. Who really cares about the biathlon? no one in america. soccer also. if the biathlon involved drinking while shooting, we would rule. Quote
hafilax Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 The USA seems to have done pretty well in the ISSF events over the year although China seems most dominant. Switzerland has had some strong competitors. I guess American shooters don't like to XC ski. Maybe if it was on horseback? Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I guess American shooters don't like to XC ski. Maybe if it was on horseback? horseback? how about snowmobile. then we'd be #1. :-))) Quote
olyclimber Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 'mericans would pwn the event if we could just change the rules so that they could call in bunkerbusters target coordinates from their hovering apaches instead of those puny peashooters they use. Quote
ivan Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 if the biathlon involved drinking while shooting, we would rule. wouldn't canada still be damn competitive though? Quote
wfinley Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I think the deal is Americans can shoot... and they can ski. They just can't shoot and ski. Most skiers who show a lot of promise get pushed into the regular XC races... the biathalon isn't as important to America. Quote
foraker Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I had a best friend in high school who used to race in the biathlon when AK competed in the Arctic Winter Games. My observation, and it's only that, is that the people who tended to gravitate to shooting on the match rifle team (and thus those who developed some shooting skills) weren't the sorts to be drawn toward a seriously athletic pursuit like cross-country skiing (oddly enough, my friend often won medals at that age simply because he could outshoot everyone even though he couldn't ski worth shit). Multiply this by the fact that I don't think that there are that many high schools with match shooting as an intramural sport as well as a cross-country ski program and there you have it. We simply don't have strong program in this country to develop the athletes unless they choose to do it themselves. Quote
Mal_Con Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Biathlon is kind of like modern pentathlon in that about the only folks that do it are on military bases that have the facilities. It is very difficult to ski hard then stop and squeeze off a few rounds accurately. Quote
TREETOAD Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 They should change the rules to skiing and fucking then shooting Quote
No. 13 Baby Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Americans lost interest in biathlon when the IOC banned beta blockers to prevent cheating by pharmaceutical intervention. Plus its a damn hard sport. Quote
G-spotter Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 They should change the rules to skiing and fucking then shooting What kinda "bi"athlon are you fantasizing about? Quote
dmuja Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 'mericans would pwn the event if we could just change the rules so that they could call in bunkerbusters target coordinates from their hovering apaches instead of those puny peashooters they use. Maine-iac Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Mix a little of Milwaukee's finest and a few more ATVs and you have yourself a real 'merican sport. Quote
lancegranite Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Biathlon, is that like when I'm packin my airsoft Glock in the snowboard park, poppin' fools who drop in on my mad lines? Quote
