I'm not sure anyone will ever be able to harness the power of spray. Everybody's always talking about new fuel sources, but I don't know. Everything I read says that it's going to be a long time before it's realistic to expect something like a hydrogen economy. I have read some good things about carbon sequestration recently. In fact one interview I listened to made it sound like it was a lot more likely to be practical in a relatively short time period as opposed to fuel cells. Also the cost quoted didn't seem too outrageous ...20 cents a gallon added cost to gas. The main problem is you've got Bush and his friends on one side who are going to fight tooth and nail for the status quo and on the other side you have environmental groups who will try and undermine any solution that isn't a silver bullet. I've also read about rich liberals from Cape Cod (like the Kennedys) who are fighting hard to stop an ofshore wind farm. I guess they care about the environment as long as it doesn't effect their property value.

snowpack data for Waddington-Homathko area?
AlpineK replied to pete_a's topic in British Columbia/Canada
After looking at the Kiwi route and the Angel Glacier on Wad for a week and then looking at the picture in Don's guide book I find this hard to believe. -
Sophisticated....try stuck up. I saw this program on Canadian TV. I only saw a few minutes of it, but it's quite possibly the best TV program of all time. Trailer Park Boys

snowpack data for Waddington-Homathko area?
AlpineK replied to pete_a's topic in British Columbia/Canada
So there's a low snopack around Vancouver, and there's a low snowpack around Terrace, but Waddington is getting a normal snopack. Yes the elevation is higher, but you need precipitation to make snow. Seattle rainfall is 1.25" below normal for January. I'll have to look at rainfall totals further north. Edit: Environment Canada's 0-3 month prediction for precipitation is for below normal totals in BC. They show temperatures as average for coastal BC and below normal for central BC. -
There are 2 areas on the base marked as, "Central Impact Zone," that you want to stay out of...especially if you hear gunfire.

snowpack data for Waddington-Homathko area?
AlpineK replied to pete_a's topic in British Columbia/Canada
I just looked at the Snow report for Shames mtn. up in Terrace. They have about 95cm at the lodge which is a really pathetic amount. It's lower elevation than Wadd for sure, but I wouldn't be too optimistic about the snow pack at Waddington. -
How many 'yahoos' here do you think will actually catch your reference to "A Modest Proposal"?? Huh...what? Duh... that's so fucking obvious it's pathetic.

Sadly I have to agree with this statement.

Yeah...I need new AT ski boots.

I've had some decent Canadian micro-type beer in a can. Cans are cool they pack easier, and they never have a snobish feel.

CrazyJZ suffers from a number of psycological problems; fortunately most of them are harmless.

It means that you're too much of a wimp to straight line it on a hill so you stick a pole between your legs and use it as a brake...and hope the tip doesn't hit a rock. Actually I have no idea, but it sounds good to me...feel free to use it if you can't come up with something better.

I wish you would have taken my advice and moved to Australia for the winter...you would have done us all a favor. I know that climate change isn't proved or disproved by one season's weather, but it's hard for most people to relate to the real evidence; which makes bickering about it a lot easier. The closest I can get to thinking about climate change is remembering the winters of the early 70's. There were plenty of days when it would be raining at Snoqualmie Pass, but there was always a ton of snow. I believe the last big snow year 98-99 would have been about average in the 70s. Maybe if we sacrifice Rudy it'll stop climate change.

I can't believe you're not outside taking advantage of this warm weather.
-
So where are you climbing at right now Rudy. You must be loving this warm weather.
-
Man...and I thought it was great when we got our hands on some blue window pane in high school.
-
Well solved for another 20 years until global warming really gets going.

I knew there was a reactionary conservative inside you Dave. My ex boss had a number of quirks. Most of them are pretty funny, but you would have had to been there. One thing that does stick out is the time the company went out to a breakfast meeting. My boss ordered his meal from the waitress and then yelled at her, "...,and bring it to me on one plate. I don't like this two plate crap."

How much climbing are you doing right now Rudy???? None...I thought so.
