Considerable avalanche danger according to Northwest Avalanche Center See here: http://www.nwac.us/forecast/avalanche/current/zone/13/
  4. WOW! Talk about flying under the radar! Was that Washington?
  5. That looks cool. Thanks. Never seen that one before.
  6. Great info! Thanks. It's really just a dream for me.
  7. I was looking into what it would take to do the Matterhorn. A guide can get you up and down in 9 to 10 hours. The trips I saw were 1 person per guide. I don't know about cost but it may be worth the money and with a guide you have a fighting chance to get it done. I know most of us thinks that's lame but if you are unfamiliar with the area it may not be a bad idea for the first time, and you could get some great beta about other things and see what it is like there. Just a suggestion. When I go to a new area I try to hook up with the locals. This way, with a guide, you know what you are getting (most times). Here is one of the guides I looked at: Matterhorn Guide I pulled most of the info from summitpost.org here Matterhorn I am also reading "Men and the Matterhorn" by Gaston Rébuffat and dreaming. Maybe someday.
  8. Another Banff Film Festival entrant. You should submit it Robert. Well done!!!! Banff Film Contest
  9. WOW! Really cool. Nice ride. Wondering what the peak was at between 2:30 sec and 3:00 sec. Thanks again for posting up.
  10. Of course! For an extra $5 they will throw in clean towels.
  11. The parking is across the street to the west of the store in the hotel parking lot. That was what I was told by Lee Davis at the Mazamas. There should be a sign in the parking lot saying that it is ok. Probably. edit: From their website: Park in front on NE 37th, across the street at the Banfield Motel, or nights and weekends at MBank.
  12. That's a good one. I was there with the rain pouring and didn't even get a little bit wet. Wild spot on a rainy day.
  13. PM sent
  14. How do you edit your pack after you save it? For instance say I want to keep the list I have saved but I want to change the tent. One way I did it was to put the counter to 0, but I could not select another tent if I do that. I could trash the pack and start over but if I have put time into making the list I thought I should be able to edit it by removing the item and selecting another. I will keep playing. Edit: I figured it out. Just remove the text from the field and the blank space will allow you to select something else. You guys are rocking.
  15. This is cool. But now I can't just pick up the packs and subjectively weigh them and guess that my partners pack is obviously lighter than mine. O.K. I guess I still could by not using this application. Seriously this is really cool. Glad to see that you included Big Wall Climbing as an activity. Damn! My haul bag weighs 8 pounds empty. Where are the portaledges? I didn't see them listed in the shelters. Nice job guys! Great idea.

  17. Good sound advice Mtguide. With no sarcasm or degrading. Well done. Glad you backed off too Ben B. It is always tough to wait but sometimes that is the most prudent path. Fred Beckey uses the 72 hour window and has lived and climbed his ass off. I also was told that Fred says that the weather on Mt. Hood should be given high regard and that we should ever think it is just a walk in the park. Watch out for the Pineapple Express. It is kind of like the perfect storm scenario. I don't know if we are headed for this kind of storm but Mt. Hood can get real ugly in a storm.
  18. Watch out for the rattle snakes at Tieton in July!
  19. That's what I wanted to know.
  20. Thanks Bob. Good stuff!
  21. Steve that is why I love to climb with you. Off the wall funny dude. To all: I place screamers on the first two screws regardless of the ice. After that I expect the ropes to do their job. I have not taken a fall either. There is a good reason they are called screamers. Good discussion about the screamers though. Continue.....
  22. You Seattle guys. Don't miss this one. Smash and Grab ... Awesome!
  23. If you weren't there you missed a good one. I thought the video was worthy to be submitted to the Banff Film Festival. Great footage, really well edited, and entertaining. Great job guys!
  24. I am looking forward to seeing this event tonight. I am getting Jim O. to get out and see it too.
  25. Nice to see Fred getting out. The weather up here is not as fine as down there for sure. It's looking better though.
