  1. That is one heck of a climb. Got heat stroke that day. Maybe it was from running out that last lead of 200 ft plus. I want to do it again when it cools down a bit.
  2. That's wild. Wish I could go.
  3. Another enjoyable day of climbing. Sure had a blast climbing with ya Ivan. We got Crusin Warriors done and I even got to climb the 5th pitch. Sooooo Awesome. That last move is one of the coolest laybacks ever. That is if you do it left. I saw that it could be done right if I was willing to stem way out there. Soloed from the notch and ran down to the bottom for some hang out time with the crew. LOVE BEACON!!!! There were some folks from Tacoma traveling through. I suggested that they do Rhythm Method. They said that it was perfect for what they had in mind. Beacon Rock is definitely a jewel. So many great days out there. One of the highlights was my wedding day at the summit. I was reminded of it today. My wife didn't realize she wasn't only marrying me, but she was marrying the rock too!
  4. I couldn't have said it better. Just saying...... What were we talking about? Oh yeah. Now I remember.
  5. The construction does not effect the parking in that area at all. For Pete's Sake is an awesome 5.8 and to the left of it is The Guillotine. It goes at 5.10. Even is a 5.7 trad route to warm up on. It is further left by a big tree. The place is dusty. So bring a ground cloth or use your rope bag to keep your rope out of the dirt. Pete's Pile Nearby is Bulo Point and Area 51. Bulo Point Area 51 Jet Stream is the best route at Bulo Point. It is bolted and a real wild ride. Jet Stream

    Seriously?

HOLY CRAP!!! I wonder how many times he seriously injured himself learning how to do that. The learning curve must be brutal.
  7. It was a nice relaxing day. Jim and I got on the corner and hung out on the ledges. There was shade to be found and we had an awesome afternoon. I love climbing at Beacon with good friends. Topped out and walked down the trail in the early evening. What a treat.
  8. Going out today. I'll be there late I think. It's going to be hot at Beacon for sure. I am going to try to find some shade.
  9. I guess I won't be going to Leavenworth. Hwy 2 Closed
  10. I have a hankering for some granite. So how about Index and Leavenworth? I could roll by on my way from Portland and we could see what we could get done. Can you climb all weekend and maybe Monday? I am dropping off my wife at the airport in Portland and then I am free. I can be in Seattle by 9 am and we can be at Index by 11.
  11. Sent email to Commissioners at: ccdista@ClarkCountyNV.gov, ccdistb@ClarkCountyNV.gov, ccdistc@ClarkCountyNV.gov, ccdistd@ClarkCountyNV.gov, ccdiste@ClarkCountyNV.gov, ccdistf@ClarkCountyNV.gov, ccdistg@ClarkCountyNV.gov Subject: Keep Red Rocks Rural The meeting is tomorrow. So if you love the place. Send an email.
  12. What is a Kiwi? Someone that is from New Zealand is called a Kiwi. Like Sir Edmund Hillary and Rob Hall to name a couple.
  13. I just signed the petition at: Petition to save Red Rock Canyon
  14. Steve I know which way is up. It is were the sky resides and birds fly. Beacon was such a blast yesterday. Got my wife up the corner in style. I thought she would struggle on the crux but she thought the upper part of the slab was harder. I know everytime I pull that horn on the slab I get a rush. Love that move.
  15. Blacks are the new pink. I love the damn things. The white is body weight only. It is really an aid piece and is not meant to be used in a fall. The white is so small I would not suggest using it in anything other than hard rock. I almost lost one at Smith. Love the black. They work great in those funky pin scars in The Valley.
  16. I hate climbing there. But I will if my friends are there. There is something about the broken glass, homeless people, and the freeway noise that puts me off. Now the upper part near the top is great for bouldering but that lower cliff sucks in my estimation. Oh and don't forget the condoms and needles from broken and discarded rigs. Bill told me to just think of the freeway noise as a river, the bums as bears, and the sharp objects encountered a sharp rocks and scree. I don't know but I can't get that Zen thing going. I'll just drive further. As for the bums we should tranquilize them and move them to downtown Portland to their native habitat.
  17. I volunteer for duty, if you ever need a tour.
  18. You can go to the base of the climb and see the memorial that is set up. With pictures and flowers. It was really nice. I paid my respects this morning before climbing today. Goodbye fallen comrade.
  19. Nice job guys. I will be out there today and will have a moment of silence for Nate at the base of the route. He will not be forgotten.
  20. That's a bunch of BS Mirk's. I know Alex and he wouldn't do what you claim. Don't know you. You sound like a hoser.
