What is the best crampon bag for grivel g-12's?
bstach replied to olemissrebel's topic in Climber's Board
Jebus, the best crampon bag is the one having the most fun. +1 for point protectors, then put them in or on your pack. Also a +duh to "make sure a strap runs THROUGH the crampon frame so you don't lose it even if it works loose." -
One man's project is another man's booty. Its a jungle out there. I remember one time when i was a kid, my friend left his bike unlocked outside the arcade. When he came back it was gone. Lesson learned. Its a cold, heartless world we live in. That being said, i hope you get your shit back.

Same old people, same old story, same old lines drawn, same old insults...at least come up with some new insults. Jebus.

I would design a high-top slipper that can take crampons. And it must have sticky rubber soles. Leather would be OK because i would just slather it with sno-seal. Plastic would be a good choice too b/c it would support front points better. But it must be flexible plastic for comfort on the approach. It should also have a removable overboot for insulation when used in extreme mountain environemtns like the Himalaya. I would call it the Toe Tally Ghey All Around Alpine Shoe. Its the only alpine footwear you will ever need.

I am in the exact situation as you including the vicarious lurking. My son is 3 now. I previously posted in the patners section (reposted below). I am in Vancouver, BC - perfect for Squamish trips. Also up to family camping/climbing in 11worth, Smith etc. I am looking to get out cragging and alpine climbing. Comfortable leading 5.9, will lead up to 5.10 on a good day or with the occassional hang dog/gear pull. I have over 10 years experience in climbing, backpacking and mountaineering. Enjoyed climbing in Red Rocks, J-Tree, Bugaboos, Rockies, BC/Washington and I am in decent shape, have gear, ropes, car etc. Lots of stuff I want to do: Angel Crest (Squamish) Bugaboo Spire Prusick Peak Stuart Slesse Brewers Buttress (Banff) among others, and open to suggestions. Good attitude - motivated, goal oriented, but won't sulk all the way home if things don't go as planned. Enjoy a cold post climb beer, but not naive enough to leave it in the creek Would be good to start with some cragging (11worth or Squamish) or some easy alpine (Yak?)to see how we are together and go from there. PS You are over your PM limit so I wasn't able to send you one

Sorry about the cross-post. After posting in partners, thought this might be better posted here, not sure how to move threads. Moderators are welcome to help out. Previous years BCMC held a drop in climbing Wed evenings in Squamish. Does anyone know if this is going this year - the BCMC web site has been down for a few days so i have no means to check. Previously they met at St. David's Church on Taylor Way to carpool from Vancouver. If anyone knows if this is happening and the meeting spot/time, please post it up here. Thx

Choada, I sent you a PM, but thought i would put my interests here so if anyone else is interested, PM me. I am looking to get out cragging and alpine climbing. Comfortable leading 5.9, will lead up to 5.10 on a good day or with the occassional hang dog/gear pull. I have over 10 years experience in climbing, backpacking and mountaineering (with a short hiatis when i had a young kid - he's 3 now). bstach replied to bubble's topic in Climbing Partners
Why only women? What if I promise to mind my manners during forced bivies? -
How could he be so naive to think someone could just walk onto the white house lawn with a suitcase full of anthrax... lol...we don't have to worry about his band of terrorists

What is a 'PT'?

That's what she said.

In politics and in business, you don't have to be good. You just have to suck less than the next closest competitor.

Bicycle chain lube works great. Just make sure you get the stuff specifically designed to not get gummed up w dirt. You can imagine that is even a bigger issue for mtn bikers.

Is that your son?

Mix bacon drippings into grits...mmmmm....a little honey isn't bad either.

You could easily walk right by the ranger station at Shurman w/o being noticed. Just don't camp there.

How about a selection for "Do you plan to solo Ranier"? Then i could vote. For the record, I would be a good boy and attempt to get a permit and do it all legal. If I got denied a permit, i would probably go anyway if I figured I could avoid NPS staff, which it sounds like at current staffing levels I could.

Climbing is an entirely egocentric activity. But so what? Lots of things are.
