    The Economy

Buy hard assets to survive the coming hyperinflation. Real estate is probably a goood bet. But any commodity will do.
  3. The reports here of the Kain Route descent are not congruent with my experience. Perhaps you were off route? The Kain descent is a few easy to find raps followed by easy hiking and scrambling.

  7. Which was the largest?
  8. Thank you. Next speaker?....
  9. Great role model for you, Marc!!! Keep training hard and maybe one day you can be just like Jason!
  10. We already have something like it in Vancouver. linky
  11. Democrats see the republicans as facist and hence claim they (the dems) are pro liberty. Republicans see the democrats as socialist, hence they (the republicans) are pro liberty. So yes, everyone is pro-liberty, but more importantly here, the "other guy" is not. Its all about framing the debate by defining the terms. What do you expect from the clan who tried to frame the Afghan war as a war against people who "hate freedom".
  12. How do they know the goat wasn't hurt if it ran off? Sometimes head or internal injuries take some time to manifest.
  13. What do you mean, Kev? Has the USA stopped having free elections? Or do you mean the spirit of democracy b/c any viable candidate has already been vetted by the establishment? If its the latter, news flash, USA never had democracy by the people for the people (thats just what they teach in school). Don't kid yourself, Joe lunch bucket was never someone that the founding fathers had in mind - more like "by rich, white, male landowners for rich, white, male landowners". They just wanted to get themselves and their rich buddies out from under the thumb of 'ol Brittania.
  14. That being said, you should still go out and vote for your favorite capitalist pwned mouthpiece. And make your views on issues known.
  15. Don't confuse my defense of the essential institution of government with a defense of the current government that is run for the wealthy and business. Don't kid yourself. Capital is power. Government will always be by the wealthy for the wealthy. If a miracle occured and a populist government ever got elected and started instituting policies that were actually good for Joe lunch-bucket, capital would flee the country and USA would be another Nicaragua. Not that this would ever happen, but interesting to think "what if". However if the unwashed masses get enough ankle biting in, they may get more scraps thrown their way than if they remained quiet. A democratic form of government at least allows some room for this.
  16. I don't want my tax dollars going towards rescuing those thrill seeking idiots!!!!111
  17. I would like to thank everybody who contributed to this thread for helping to make spray less lame. I was honestly considering visiting CC.com for conditons and beta only but you all changed my mind. Thank you and have a nice day.
  18. He sure has a purdy mouth
  19. That is dumb, so dumb. For real.
  20. Just stay out of Spray and you should be fine
  21. Jebus, the best crampon bag is the one having the most fun. +1 for point protectors, then put them in or on your pack. Also a +duh to "make sure a strap runs THROUGH the crampon frame so you don't lose it even if it works loose."
  22. One man's project is another man's booty. Its a jungle out there. I remember one time when i was a kid, my friend left his bike unlocked outside the arcade. When he came back it was gone. Lesson learned. Its a cold, heartless world we live in. That being said, i hope you get your shit back.
  23. Same old people, same old story, same old lines drawn, same old insults...at least come up with some new insults. Jebus.
  24. I would design a high-top slipper that can take crampons. And it must have sticky rubber soles. Leather would be OK because i would just slather it with sno-seal. Plastic would be a good choice too b/c it would support front points better. But it must be flexible plastic for comfort on the approach. It should also have a removable overboot for insulation when used in extreme mountain environemtns like the Himalaya. I would call it the Toe Tally Ghey All Around Alpine Shoe. Its the only alpine footwear you will ever need.
  25. I am in the exact situation as you including the vicarious lurking. My son is 3 now. I previously posted in the patners section (reposted below). I am in Vancouver, BC - perfect for Squamish trips. Also up to family camping/climbing in 11worth, Smith etc. I am looking to get out cragging and alpine climbing. Comfortable leading 5.9, will lead up to 5.10 on a good day or with the occassional hang dog/gear pull. I have over 10 years experience in climbing, backpacking and mountaineering. Enjoyed climbing in Red Rocks, J-Tree, Bugaboos, Rockies, BC/Washington and I am in decent shape, have gear, ropes, car etc. Lots of stuff I want to do: Angel Crest (Squamish) Bugaboo Spire Prusick Peak Stuart Slesse Brewers Buttress (Banff) among others, and open to suggestions. Good attitude - motivated, goal oriented, but won't sulk all the way home if things don't go as planned. Enjoy a cold post climb beer, but not naive enough to leave it in the creek Would be good to start with some cragging (11worth or Squamish) or some easy alpine (Yak?)to see how we are together and go from there. PS You are over your PM limit so I wasn't able to send you one
