  1. I don't really care how people get to the summit and what goals that drives them. I have my own climbing philosiphy and as long as other peoples climbing style don't mess to bad with my goals I don't care. They have to live with there style and I am happy to live with my style.
  2. I don't know shit about this but wouldn't the snow melt and go back into the river during spring? My normal "anti everything" atittude would be against it though
  3. I will be there Friday so I can look for it. Any more details about where it could be?
  4. I lived in Sweden before I moved to Portland and I remember the debate about Sweden joining the EU or not. I was against but the election determent that Sweden would join. I always prefer the solution where the power is as close to the voter as possible. And stuff is manufactured as close to the customer as possible. Right now the population want to have a vote about accepting the expansion of EU authority. The political powers are against this when it is clear that Sweden would vote just as France did. If the global economy keeps blackmailing countries the way they do now there will be countries competing for corporations just like corporations compete for customers. Not sure I like that idea What do you think ChrisT? Hey it is 2:00. my week of slavery is over, mountains here I come..Soo long suckers

  6. This thread would be better with pictures.
  7. Can I copy your permit? What did you answear on question #5?
  8. So would you have something to add if this thread was called "bleeding from the rear" ?
  9. Any news on that starbucks and gondola?
  10. I was never more then half a mile away from I5 and never left my car, but it looks like the snow level is about half way up the mountain. Now thats a snow report that is worth alot.
  11. Pretty close, not as much snow as on your trip. I can see why it is called the "lightning rod". I got one photo before the clouds blew in and I will post it tomorow.
  12. Well this will not be much of a trip report Saturday: Left 3:00 AM from Eugene heading to Medford. Parked at a gas station on I5 for about an hour watching the lightning storm hitting Mt Mclouglin, hoping the thunderstorm would end. Had a pretty bad summit fever after 3h in the car. Canceled the whole thing and went back and took a nap. Sunday: Drove to Mt Thielsen on 138. Hiked the Mt Thielsen trail up to the ridge following boot tracks. Did a little bit of post holing. When I was about 500 feet from the summit the clouds cached up with me and it turned into a white out condition, turned around. Mt Thielsen looks allot cooler in real life then on photos. 10h in the car. 5h hiking. Not a great weekend. Hope next weekend in Bend with South and middle sister works out better.
  13. You are all wrong http://www.cnn.com/2005/AUTOS/05/26/drivers_study/index.html
  14. Yeeeah Poch picture posting. Mr Natural Nice looking dogs you got, but then I am slightly biased.
  15. To bad about your pup. I would also think about the recovery time and how the effect of the surgery will be effected if scoots moves around to much before it is all healed up. Good luck keeping a 2 year old lab still for 1-2month. Our oldest dog is now 11 and her knee is really bad. We decided to not do anything about it because it would be alot of pain and not increase her life quailty with alot.
  16. I thought it was really good. I miss a Harrison Ford character but there is plenty of other cool stuff. I have seen it a couple of times now and it is neat to see all the small details that tie it together with episode 4.
  17. Just sad. http://www.katu.com/stories/77350.html
  18. Don't know about you guys but I think it sucks. Now the climbers can have even less respect and comitment to the mountain.
  19. The routes I plan to do is the standard slogs. Solo, no ropes and a dog. Thanks
  20. I am heading south this weekend and was looking into doing Mt Mcloughlin on Saturday and Mt Thielsen on Sunday but the recent snow fall in combination with the avy accident is making me concerned. Does anyone have any recent beta or other info that I could use. Do you think all the warm weather will make the snow consolidate before the weekend? Am I working my way up to a Darwin award if I just go for it. Yes I know test the conditions when you get there and all that stuff. If you have any thoughts or knowledge please share.

    the senate is lame

We should reform this country into an Empire instead. That would bring peace and prosperity to the world.
  22. Sounds great. I will go up there 2 weeks from now. Things should be at a prime at that point. If I am lucky I will not need snow shoes either.
  23. Any reports on avy conditions up to pikers peak?
  24. I think Bush is stupid and I know USA have better people for the job as president then him. But I can live with the fact that he is stupid, everyone have a right to be stupid. What I have a really hard time to accept is that more then 50% of the voters thought he was good the first 4 years and re-elected him. That is freaking me out about America and where we are heading.
