I'm heading over to the Methow on Saturday and will be there through Wednesday. If anybody is interested in a partner I'll have tools and snowshoes with me and can sneak away from family for a day. I've climbed some alpine ice, but would be more of a belay slave on water ice. PM or email by Saturday morning if you want to hook up.

Dude, I'm pretty sure Nick wants to sleep with your wife.

Don't remember the article, but it sounds like a "tabata interval" routine. Google it and you'll find lots of good 14-16 minute workouts that will kick your ass.

I can't imagine any guide service letting you go up with your son in a pack. I wonder how you'd feel about practicing self arrest with him in the pack? I've slipped on ice with my son in a pack and the experience is way different than a regular self arrest. For example, have you ever had to slam on the brakes and found yourself moving your arm to the side to hold back your wife? Even though she was wearing a seatbelt. It's funny the protective instincts that take over in an emergency. Personally, I don't think I could shoulder the responsibility of taking my son in a pack on crevassed terrain, or anyplace that required roped travel. That being said, I don't have experience on Hood so I can't comment directly on it. Maybe a good starter hill would be Mt. St. Helens. No ropes, no crevasses and not nearly as steep. If you're interested in that, I'd go up there with you. Maybe with a snow camp in the worm flows. Something like Mother's day weekend, or the weekend before. You can PM me if you're interested.

I thought you were vegetarian.

Ever since we had a civet cat come in overnight, I only use my hex3 on snow.

Oh, it just hit me. By "sugar", you actually mean sugar. Well, that's not so bad.

Ya ya, laugh it up. I spent the first 17 years (13 of them skiing) of my life skiing there. I grew up about 10 miles from that place. We didn't know any better. Now when I want cheap skiing I go to The Loup.

I was going to say what I do, but it just doesn't feel right after seeing that picture of your big cock Dechristo. I just don't see myself following a post like that. Somebody say they're an architect or something so I have a post to follow.

I have a Golite Covert jacket that is way too long for my short torso. I think Cloudveil makes some longer pieces too.

Were you specifically looking for whitetail? Or did you just happen to find one? I didn't get anything last weekend, but I did find out that my 10 year old needs more target practice. And that buck fever isn't just for bucks.

I was one of the 10,000 hunters.

I used the new design (partner had a couple) a couple weeks ago on Obs Rock. I really really liked the second clip in point. Very handy.

My 5th grader brought home "Peak" by Roland Smith. We've been reading it together, taking turns reading aloud. Definitely directed toward young people, but not bad.

Hey. I drink fair trade coffee. Shit, I think that's all you can buy in Port Townsend. Oh ya, and I'm a veteran. Maybe I'm just a little ironic.

That age is a little fuzzy for me. Are they still in front packs at that age? I forget which front pack we had, but when they got a little older we used a Kelty. I think it was the Kelty Pathfinder or one very similar to it about 8 years ago.

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.
