also Mt. Elinor in the Olympics is a good place to see mountain goats.

is this one up the hill from the start of the west face variation?

why do some anchors get chopped (tiger paws area, blackberry jam, etc) while others don't? whoever these vigilantes are, they aren't super consistent. personally I'd just as soon have big bolts at the top of every route. I'd be surprised if it was anyone from the bible school chopping the anchors. Or a neighbor. I bet those folks are more concerned about the drug addicts and the other assorted undesirables than climbers.

the ads help us get the coin to help colin fund his adventures. and that's pretty cool of you; just thought they looked lame is all.
-
those ads aren't obtrusive at all! neat article, though.

I'd be very curious to know the methodology behind those ethnicity/education/kids in household numbers.

yeah, thanks for creeping everyone out with your scorpion stories, bill! I've only seen a scorpion one time, out on the path by the river at smith.

he's literate, though. sort of like koko, the gorilla that knows sign language... ha ha just kidding ivan

I've had a couple bouts with plantar fasciitis too. Most recently from biking. Taking it easy for a week or so and doing a lot of stretching seems to help. But it's frustrating; it lingers on for a while for me. I think I'll stay away from the "cylinder of pain."

I can see "echalkulation" making it into the climbers' lexicon.

24:55? that's pitiful; I'd be embarrassed to admit to climbing olympus sub-24 hrs, but whatever. just kidding, I'm very impressed. looking forward to the pictures. is the blood blister under your nail? I had a big blood blister under my big-toe-nail one time and the doctor at my college just drilled a hole in the nail which let the blood out & it was as good as new right away. you can come over and borrow my cordless drill if you want. -

4 "D" batteries in a sock - the lite version of your PBR pillowcase - was the weapon of choice among the neighborhood toughs when i was a kid. just something more for your bedroom arsenal.

yes, but you'll get Eid and Buddha's Birthday off, so don't complain!

Ken Nichols convicted and fined for bolt chopping
dan_forester replied to billcoe's topic in Rock Climbing Forum
that's certainly true in this forum. I'd like to think that there's folks out there who could really articulate the need for restraint in bolting - because it's a worthy subject for debate - but they don't seem to post up here. Maybe they don't want to be associated with the puerile rhetoric and belittling, condescending tone that the anti-bolters around here employ. -
your "negative word of mouth" campaign makes you look like a jackass I'd say this guy Rob was way too nice to you; if someone sent me an email like that first one, I wouldn't be feeling very generous. just my opinion, thanks in advance for not sending your posse of thugs to beat me with baseball bats.

anybody ever seen a carabiner break? seems like if it's not loaded across the gate or bent over an edge this would be pretty rare.

when you eat meat, you ride with bin laden...or something

corgi! dachshund! -
this reminds me of a discussion I was having with some climber bros one time about which of the marvel superheroes was our favorite. Micah said that Daredevil was his fave, and Timmy (of course) was all into Spiderman, and then Dean said his favorite was Batman! I was like, c'mon, Dean, Batman is DC, jeez. anyhoo, for me the carabiner is generally a type of climbing device for protecting myself whilst I am clambering amongst the cascade jewels.
