White Lightening made for bike chains or Metolius Cam Lube are basically the same thing and work well. Make sure your cam is clean first. Clean using paint thinner or use detergent in warm water. Lube after allowing to dry. Remove excess.

I am just taking a wild guess and say you have little or no mountaineering experience. I would say you'd be best off partnering up with someone who has some experience. It should be possible to get your son up the mountain provided you trained adequately and had some support from other members of your party. Other members could carry some of the gear that you'd otherwise carry yourself.
