In climbing Cocaine Crack I noticed that there was a sewn shoulder length sling girth hitched to a piton under the roof. I got to wondering why someone would do that. It could be they bailed from that sling, but that seems unlikely as that would be foolhardy. Do you think they used it to aid the move around the roof? Maybe they girth hitched it because they figured the second would also need it to aid and couldn't clean it?

I think you made a Freudian slip. Your pants would say, WATCH your ass". Your tent mate would be the one to say, "WASH your ass".

I assure you, the early warning anti-aircraft system that we sold you is much, much better than the one we sold to Syria!

Are you talking about that decomposing Swauk sandstone slab? If that's the one you are referring to, it doesn't pique my curiosity one bit.

It would have been a good investment for the country as a whole but not for certain of our business interests who pull the strings.

When I saw Yoder in July, he said it would be out in September. Now that fall is here I hope it comes out soon.

I'm bummed that I didn't get to meet Mark Webster and Sherri.

I got a chance to lead Cocaine Crack for the first time, was well as Cocaine Connection after having done R&D many times before. We visted BOB wall. That was a first too. Bob's Sixth was harder than I expected it to be. I got it clean, but I want a rematch.

What the heck are you talking about? No one said anything about being screwed by their belay device. B-52, Reverso, ATC Guide, they all work pretty much the same with regard to autoblock mode. You have two choices for lowering a second in autoblock. One is rigging a sling to tip the device downward. The other method is to pull the locking biner upward. The former supposedly can allow one to ease out rope, whereas the latter method is all or nothing and requires a back up by a Munter Hitch.

You think marriage was an institution foisted on mankind by aliens or something. It's common to almost every society. It's a reflection of who we are. With regard to your monogamous statement, we as a species have both monogamous as well as polygamous tendencies. The former tend to outweigh the latter most of the time, but it's always there. We're all two-sided. It's what makes our lives so complex.

The answer is that it could not. That is a small error in the drawing, but it's immaterial to the discussion. But that reminds me to mention one thing about the Petzl method, in which that particular biner is pulled upward to release the autoblock. That biner must be set to one side of the keeper loop. Otherwise the loop will trap it and it could get damaged on a B52, although not on a Reverso.

It might need a 200-bolt bolt ladder.

Our little group was planning on doing R&D and then climbing up at BOB Wall. If you are a newbie and would like to try an easy multipitch (5.6), meet us at Snow Creek Parking Lot at 9 am or at Icicle Buttress parking area at 9:15 am.

Goggle lens color for mountaineering/snowboarding
catbirdseat replied to LuckyMike's topic in The Gear Critic
There is a good reason why amber is a good color. Your eyes are maximally sensitive to light of that wavelength. Limiting your vision to monochromatic light makes it easier for your eyes to focus sharply. This is because light refracts through a greater angle the shorter the wavelength. Regardless of the explanation, it's well known that yellow lenses make it easier to discern contrast in flat light conditions. -
Okay, KK, can you put forth the name of someone you think would be deserving of the Peace Prize and back it up with some facts in support of this person?

Wasn't it you who posted about doing something similar to your biceps or some other muscle group last year? What came of that? Are you taking statins?

I suggest that you use baking soda and water. Scrub it well in the tub, then rinse well. Set up the tent somewhere dry and leave it up for a week.

If you are curious as to why this man is smiling, all you have to do is look at the right side of the photograph.

My advice is to not worry about what other people do or what other people think. Make your own judgment. Weigh the pros and cons and decide. I've been married for 24 years.

I am sure that, were you to ask Mark McKillop, he'd say you should use six, 1/2" x 3" galvanized lag screws.

The dog doesn't need to be vicious. It just needs to sound vicious and perhaps look vicious. The deterrent effect is what you're after. You might like to have friends over to your house one day.

I wonder whether the Canadians might possibly object to this proposal?

In a Yahoo! seach for Mycoplasma genitalius I came up with this article. It claims that Mycoplasma incognitus a germ warfare agent is the cause of Gulf War Syndrome. This is news to me.
