Wow!!! I've worked in HR for more than 10 years and have pretty much heard them all. This is one of the worst I've heard. One other was an owner of some DQ's in the north end decided to shutter their doors without telling anyone. Of course, they also didn't pay them the hours they were due up to that point and we kept getting calls from pissed employees.

Either way you are in a compromise and if it doesn't work out, you can still have COBRA from that job and Cali has some really great FMLA (Family Medical Leave Absence) laws.
