  1. Huh? I do not have a political mindset. So can someone please explain the difference to me: Corporations can make contributions to a candidate--but are limited. Corporations can not make campaign contributions. If you make contributions to a candidate aren't you making campaing contributions? Is this what is called soft money?
  2. awewsome vid. I love the dog jumping in and out of the shot!

I have often wondered how can one be in poverty when they have access to electricity and indoor plumbing?
  9. Sounds like Fox News. Some people are willing to sell hype. Some people are willing to buy hype. It is a free will market. You get to decide with your money and your time. I don't buy into it. I don't complain nor spend my time on the subject like Scott is doing. But then again that is his free will to spend his time...and my time to read his discussion.
  10. Most of poorest countries in Africa has complete freedom from any government laws.
  11. This is the quote that interested me: "Entrance to Yellowstone should cost a family more than a night at the movies." He is making a comparison between private versus public. They are not to be compared. The park service budget could be higher...but then the defense department budget would have to to be lower...we make choices as a national community.
  12. I will pipe in a bit. I am a certified peakbagger. It is totally about the different areas and the different approaches and the diffferent experiences. I do a lot in one trip becuase I too work and have the family thing...so it is important I try to put in as many experiences as possible into one trip. For example, restaurants. I try the best I can to NOT repeat a restaurant I have eaten at. There are so many out there, I would like to experience what each restaurant offers. Now some of you might want to go back to the same restaurant and try something new on the menu, that does not interest me...becuase I want to see the next one....I also do not take non climbing vacations to the same place. There are so many places on this earth, and I want to experience as many as I possibly can with the one life I have.
  13. Do you remember when you were 10 or 19...or 30. Did you want to be told, "You are doing too much X so stop it."?
  14. in the end...it will be a mix of private and public insurancing people will get serviced...but at what level of service? I hear people in the UK don't like their health system very much, but in no way in hell do they want to go the way of the US. I know somebody in the healthcare field. She works 3 days out of 14. She is a semi-doctor and makes $80K a year...comes to about $128 an hour. She has big time loans. I wonder what would happen to that person with a change in the system....less pay? Many doctors are motivated by their own profit too. And why does the schooling of these people cost so much?
