Dru Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 I forgot to mention that i got punched in the mouth... by a 30 lb. icicle... my tooth did not FULLY penetrate my lip but it did result in some red phlegm in the snow and instruction from a co worker today that I should stop brawling! Quote
gapertimmy Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Well, my weekend was last thur/fri. I took the mutts on a hike up the abondoned deschutes river trail on thursday, and friday we wanked around on grey butte behind smiffy rox. amazing views were had from the top, a see of clouds with all cascade volcanos in site from bachy all the way up to adams. i'll post a panoramic shot once i get off my lazy ass and make it. this actual weeked was spent watching the gapers flock to the high 50's sunny weather on the hill. is it spring already? minx Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Took dogs and kid skiing. Lundin peak. Wish it would snow more. Quote
Bill_Simpkins Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Satuday-climbing at Larrabee Sunday-Hiked up Goat Mt. and attempted to snoboard down. Not much snow in the mountains. The approaches rock. Quote
obsydian Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Climbed Roosevelt, went in over frozen Snow Lake. Beautiful views of Glacier Peak, Rainier, all the Snoqualmie peaks. The last 300 feet up Roosevelt was quite steep and exposed, wish we'd brought a couple of ropes and pickets, but slow going and careful downclimbing got us out. What a great day Sunday was, thought it was supposed to rain, but beautiful all day. Quote
Fairweather Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Ran a half-marathon in the Skagit Valley, but the fantastic views of Mt Baker during the run made me wonder why I wasn't up there instead. Anyone on Baker this past weekend? Quote
Dru Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 FW just posted something not about politics!!!! Quote
bobinc Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Investigated the snowpack in the Wasatch. It's even worse than here! Beautiful spring conditions in January but with much less snow. Still, found a few hundred feet of okay recrystallized snow in the trees here and there and met some cool people. Quote
Toast Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Got in my first alpine ice experience Friday and loved it. Attempted Chair ... got three pitches up and bailed at 4:00. Basked in the sun, warm air and great views, though. Quote
Fairweather Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Dru, ....not only that, but check out the photo gallery's new "top poster". Besides, I've posted many a slog report in addition to my political rantings. Quote
JoshK Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Soloed lover's lane on lane peak w/ skisports on thurs with *massive* hangover. great cure for the hangover tho.. Yo-yo skiied north side of snow lake divde and east side of chair peak on friday...found some suprisingly good snow (even some powder). not bad for a week after the last storm. slept in saturday and sunday...I think this was the best part of the weekend. scot'teryx Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Skied Saint Helens on Saturday, hardly anyone was up there. Had the summit to ourselves and had a good ski down to the parking lot (almost all the way, dry trail and pavement the last 1/4 mile) Quote
timi Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 Simu-climbed banana peal in 25 min on Sat. No one was on the Apron, then had dinner and got a bit pissed for the hike up the back side of the chief at 11 pm. Got to the top to yell at the wolves, or like one, depending on your interpretetion and drank some whisky. Good times. 5 humans and one dog on the middle summit in the middle of the night. Great stumble down by 3, but non the less a really good time. Quote
