mattp Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Question: What does Caveman eat, and if we eat like him will we be better climbers? Research indicates that he might go for meat and potato's, but discard the bun (they only get smashed in your pack anyway). Quote: "two baconburgers a day is insane" Also, be forwarned that if you climb with a caveman, you may want to carry something to protect yourself. Quote: "caveman cannibalism confirmed" Does Caveman eat Gu? Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Do I eat gu?! Hell no! Fried Chicken in the backcountry maybe but never gu. If you bring fried chicken you dont need to cook (less weight no stove) and it tastes good cold. Quote
mattp Posted January 14, 2003 Author Posted January 14, 2003 I'm with you, Ray. Every time I hit the Cle Elum Safeway, I pick up some of that "day old" stuff with the sale stickers. The grease has reabsorbed and it doesn't make a mess in your pack. Quote
iain Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 A friend of mine orders a pizza the night before, leaves it out on his counter overnight to cool and coagulate, folds it in half, and sticks it in some saran wrap. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is served. He'll do this for trips up to a week. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 I am also a frequenter of the Cle Elum Safeway in search of chicken. Ask highlander Quote

Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Shit, as long as it's made of meat or comprised mostly of cheese, it'll work, hot, cold, or three days old. Hey, that rhymed. Sweet! Quote
Figger_Eight Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Don't forget the McDonald's $1 menu either. That's key for early morning road breakfasts. I'll spend a little extra for good coffee though. Quote
wdietsch Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Cold pizza, cold chicken, cold mashed potatoes---all excellent for any meal! washed down with cold coffee no doubt Quote

Some recent study declared that "they" had it all wrong, fiber isn't the wonder food anymore, cold starches are! They especially mentioned potatoes cooked and cooled. Quote

allthumbs Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 cold bear liver and limburger cheese - oh and remember folks, if you get caught out there in some overnite freshiez, there's nothing quite as satisfying as a fresh-shot warm gut pile to curl up in on a forced bivy. Quote
fleblebleb Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Alrighty people, that's it, I'm breaking into the cc.com servers, fucking with the database to mix this thread with the wine thread from the other day, turning the result over to the men in the white gowns, and we'll finally have it on paper that you are all certifiably insane Quote
