layton Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Too bad, scoliosis was the hot topic for rehab today Quote

Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Funny that a practitioner of a methodology that is based on such pseudoscientific twaddle as "innate intelligence" would be flying the flag of the FSM, a favorite skeptics' jab at, well, pseudoscientific twaddle. Perhaps there's a subluxation in your liver chi, or whatever. Quote
layton Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Leaches and bloodletting were standard practice in your profession not to long ago I do believe. "Stay off of it and take some ibuprofen and antidepressants" is a much better change for you guys! Thanks for the bigotry, and help with getting climbers injury free! All that for a $200 30 second visit! You certainly put me in my place. Quote

I've alway found it amusing how Md's and surgeons, who in all appearances really appear to know so very little about back's neck's and brains, can continually pop off like they do. I have personally found chiropractic to be unbeliveable helpful, and MD's and surgeons to be generally ignorant people on these specific issues which they claim to specialize in. You post further reinforces that belief. Quote

All that for a $200 30 second visit! You certainly put me in my place. Right, but whereas Western medicine has modified its approach accordingly as a result of discoveries such as the germ theory of disease, chiropractic is still based on the idea that magic energy beams flow through the top of your skull down your spine, and that all the body's ills can be cured by righting the flow of the magic energy (aka "innate intelligence"). And billcoe, do tell; since Western medicine's practitioners are so ignorant, would you avoid them if you broke your spine? Had a ruptured disk? A brain aneurysm? People are funny; they will get their backs popped or eat homeopathic sugar pills for minor, nonspecific ailments, but the minute the shit hits the fan, they want a real doctor. Hmmm... Quote
kevbone Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 People are funny; they will get their backs popped or eat homeopathic sugar pills for minor, nonspecific ailments, but the minute the shit hits the fan, they want a real doctor. Hmmm... Why is that funny? It’s true. Naturopaths can only help so much. Folks usually go to western Dr. s for broken stuff and the hippie Dr.s for acupuncture and such. Acupuncture rules, wish I could get needled everyday. Oh yeah and by the way, you are no Dr. And certainly not amazing Quote
layton Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 There are still "straight" chiropractors that still believe that philosophy, and good ones who acknowledge it as a possibility but don't base their treatments of diagnosis off of it. The "innate intelligence" folks are usually the ones who draw the attention and are the most outspoken, while the good ones don't get a drop of credit because of folks like you. Funny that the population or media doesn't generalize M.D.'s based off all the horrible things you hear about the bad ones. It's a double standard and it creates much hostility. It's really pathetic that this argument is brought up every time I mention my profession. Especially in a post that is supposed to be a service for the climbing community. But thanks to the people that have shit all over me and my profession, I seriously doubt anyone will seek care at the clinic I go to school at. Too bad, I could have helped a lot of climbers with shoulder problems, knee issues, back or neck problems, high blood pressure...you name it. If the "good doctor" had taken the time to read the services I provide at the clinic, he would have read that adjustments are just one of the treatments we provide. So I still need too see a lot more folks at the clinic, and I could only hope that climbers, who get injured left and right, would take advantage of this service. Quote
layton Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 As for the comment about, who would you see "if you broke your spine? Had a ruptured disk? A brain aneurysm?" The answer: a specialist. I'm pretty sure that when you get diagnosed with one of these conditions by your MD, he/she doesn't take you into the next room and begin surgery. They would refer you to a specialist. EXACTLY like a chiropractor would do. If it turned out to be non-surgical, lets say a disc herniation, what would be the difference of approach? An MD would prescribe anti-inflammatory meds, and say stay off of it, or maybe go see a physical therapist if you're lucky. A chiropractor would begin rehabilitation and specific treatments right away, prescibe exercises, reduce the inflammation with a combo of NSAID and natural anti-inflams. What do you think would be the price difference? Quote
layton Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 and finally.... go look up how many folks have been killed by their chiropractor, or other alternative medicine provider vs. their MD. Quote
Choada_Boy Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Mike: Doctors know EVERYTHING. Just ask! When the ophthalmologist couldn't figure out what was wrong with my eye, I replied: "That's OK, you're only practicing medicine." Needless to say, he was not happy. In the words of a great man: "Doctors? Doctors are idiots." Quote
