iain
Going ice climbing at a place/time where there is guaranteed to be a ton of people? Sweet!
layton
Going ice climbing at a place/time where there is guaranteed to be a ton of people? Sweet! Â No shit, i've never understood ice fests. Everyone go at once, I'll be there the week before. Be sure to lick the balls of all the gear reps and buy into the commercialism of the sport. barkernews
yeah yeah. But those are some BAD ASS climbers... And the parties rock.
Knuckles
Fuck that ice fest and the cocky "Radans"( ) that go with it.... been there, done that.
thelawgoddess
the week before is also busy. just get up early and you'll be able to get on what you want, though. people were pretty friendly last year, sharing ropes here and there. (the guided groups tend to hog areas of lines, though.) ice fests can be fun because you get to climb next to the best of the best and see old friends and make new ones and ... Dru
Ice fests are about drinking beer not climbing ice

cj001f
Be sure to lick the balls of all the gear reps and buy into the commercialism of the sport. But what about the revolution in Ice Screws? The only thing dumber than an Ice Fest is a mid-Winter BC ski fest. Â And Snoboy, Dru's right.
Dru
I think sno was more in the "nope not going" category actually. I was just making joke at him
tomtom
I'm signed up for two clinics on Friday of the 'fest. Â Steep Ice with Jim Donini & Mixed with Sean Isaac. Â Should be interesting. Skipping the rest to go skiing at Telluride.
ChocChick
Not for the ice fest. Done it too many years and it's not worth it. It gets too crowded to climb. I am going to Ouray in mid February when the crowds thin out and there is no waiting in line for my favorites!!!!!
lummox
ice festival = clusterfuck
neswstar
check out Ouray the week of Chicks with Picks - they put on an awsome Friday night auction ( w/beer).
specialed
I'd rather figure it out myself than stand around with a bunch of shoeller clad gapers listening to some irreverant old man spraying about the time he puked his remaining live brain cells out of nose on the summit of Mt. Dickey.
thelawgoddess
i wouldn't call sean isaac an irreverant old man, and i've heard nothing but good reviews from my friends who've done clinics there. you know ... there's always something new to be learned ... cj001f
I don't think Sean Isaacs was the old man being mentioned
