quote:

"It involves three pitches of chimneying and offwidth climbing. Take a dozen appropriate nuts..." Appropriate?

perhaps they were referring to the climbing partners you should bring! [laf][laf][laf]

Local climber John Howe has said that up here, "The trees are winning."

Funny, I heard Anders Ourom say, "the moss is winning". Trees are fine and are relatively easy to deal with. Moss is an insidious nightmare endemic to PNW; it can creep back in a week of rain and reclaim all your best efforts of cleaning. Napalm the Chief!

TTT- Yep that was us. I was the one draggin' behind [smile]

How did your one-day push go? Did ya trip on all the RMI "night climbers" on your way up?

Lets go back to that Formidible route. It is not in the book, is it a new route? . Give it up, what is the grade etc?. I did the complete N. Ridge solo and I was not impressed with the rock.

NW Corner of North Early Winters on Tuesday. Had the spire to ourselves. The 3rd-5th pitches are outstanding. Truly memorable. Fingers, hands, fists, offwidth, liebacking, underclings, stemming, face, etc.--it's got it all. Donated a quart of blood to the local well-fed skeeter population, which was kind enough to accompany us up the route.

On Monday I did Davis-Holland to Lovin' Arms on Upper Town Wall at Index. Supposedly the hottest day of the year so far.. So, we got the super-alpine start: at 1 p.m. We were in the shade after the first pitch. The temps were quite nice. I enjoyed the route very much.
