AlpineK
I WALK THE LINE Johnny Cash I keep a close watch on this heart of mine, I keep my eyes wide open all the time, I keep the ends out for the ties that bind, Because you're mine, I walk the line. I find it very, very easy to be true, I find myself alone when each day is through, Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you, Because you're mine, I walk the line. You've got a way to keep me on your side, You give me cause for love that I can't hide, For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide, Because you're mine I walk the line. As sure as night is dark and day is light, I keep you on my mind both day and night, And happiness proves that I'm right, Because you're mine I walk the line. scrambler
Outlaw Country. One of its pioneers? Shattered that image of squeaky clean country music. Folsom Prison Blues. Therapy for the sick. Precursor to David Allan Coe but much tamer.
Dru
"That Ray Borbon is a badass. I heard he shot a man in Reno just to watch him die." "That was Johnny Cash, you idiot." "OHMYGOD!!! Ray Borbon shot Johnny Cash?" Dont take your guns to town, boys, don't take your guns to town. Johnny's one of them ghost riders in the sky now. I've only got the track he did with U2 here in the office so I'm gonna play it all day long now.

Gonna listen to his live concert at Folsom Prison today. Goodbye, cowboy. Give our regards to June.
chucK
When I heard the news this morning, I figured that was the first time I can remember when I've actually felt truly affected when a show business person I don't know died. Here's to you Johnny . ETA agreed Greg. Poor choice, lyrics removed. Edited September 12, 2003 by chucK
Greg_W
Thanks for pissing on the legacy of Johnny Cash, chuck. Don't try and imitate the Master, it just cheapens the greatness.
trustyredalien
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH what news to wake up in the morning. At least my favorite dj John Richards was there to break the news so gently. KEXP is playing tributes all day. Many drinks to follow tonight. I knew when June died last spring he wouldn't be far behind. Hard life, hard man, true songs. He's the man. They don't make them like him anymore. Why the hell pieces of shit like Mick Jagger are still running around on this earth while the Man in Black who sang from the soul has gone to the Grand Ole Opry in the sky....I'll never understand. C'est la vie. We'll meet again. Don't know where, don't know when, some sunny day. Thanks for being there Johnny.
glen
Man, what a legend... One of the few musicians that is appreciated by listeners across a spectrum of genres. How many people havn't heard him? Who can't sing along with "Boy named Sue"? Who else could have upstaged the Boss with a cover of "I'm on Fire"? Who else could sing "I've been everywhere" or "Ring of Fire" and actually pull it off ? I think I'll pass on the beer and take a shot of JD for the Man in Black. catbirdseat
I'm wearing all black today at work. I don't generally like country music, but I liked Johnny's music. He trancended his genre because he knew how people felt. He knew pain and he knew loss. RIP, Johnny.
