I've been out with snoboarders who have snowshoes or some of those shorty aproach skis. The shorty skis seem a lot better. Snowshoes will make you wade in the depths trying to keep up with your friends on skis.

What you need is a car. Get a car Dave then you can trade driving turns with a ski buddy. You're going to need some health problems like mine to avoid driving. There you have it. One month in Harborview or get a car.

I used to go up to the Canadian Rockies a bunch when I was 18 and 19. I loved the Alberta liquor stores!

I did the UE back a couple years ago. It was, "ok," but I wouldn't call it great. If I remember right the only interesting bit is the last pitch. It might be a better day to hike your gear to the top then rap and climb the last pitch. Afterwards have a nice picnic with a cute woman. That would be a good way to spend the day.

I don't think too much of Cheney. On the other hand the McBride Range was a great ski traverse Jordop and I did back a few years ago.

In decent conditions with good visibility the climb up to Muir is pretty straightforward. As things stand right now I believe the road up to the parking lot is shut down. Under these conditions I think you could do it as an overnight trip with a lot of road walking. I'd wait till the road is open and do it as a day trip. You might want to pick another destination for your trip. There are some good snowshoe or ski routes out of the Baker ski area lot.

My dad climbed Waddington back in the 50s. Here's the route they took. Float plane from Vancouver Island to Ghost Lake. From there they descended to the Tiedman and thus up to Rainy Knob. From there they climbed the standard route on Wad. Maybe not as rad as a sea kayak aproach, but it ended up being an exciting climb for them.
