  1. I admire Messner for what he did. I know recently folks have done even crazier shit than Messner did, but he's still due a lot of respect.
  2. I've never actually met a snaffel, but back a long time ago I did run into a porcupine. The little fucker was chewing on a trail sign up in the Canadian Rockies. We were camped out and the little fucker pissed me off. I grabbed a rock and started aiming for the trail sign hoping to scare the little bugger. By accident I flat out nailed the little porker. It dropped to the ground and ran off. I'm glad I didn't kill the little fucker, but I am happy I freaked it out
  3. That's some crazy shit
  4. I'll probably keep up the walking, so give me a shout when you're up to it.
  5. I'm all for simple solutions

Good luck fixing the place up!
  7. I don't have quite the problems Kat does, but I am interested in getting back in shape. Right now I've mostly been going for walks, which is great, but I think I could start doing some easy cardio workouts at the gym. My doctors tell me to stick to walking. but I think I could be doing more. Any thoughts?
  8. I've got some pills that make me feel a little funny, but unfortunately they don't fuck me up
  9. I had a fun time doing most of the leading on that climb Carolyn. Yos is a great place. My toughest would probably be the Cassin Ridge. We did that in the mid 80's. It wasn't the most technical thing I ever did, but it was a big event that I'm quite proud of. There is one bad bit. I've lost touch with my two partners Rick and Greg. The last I heard they were in Ca. It would be nice to talk to them again.
  10. Spray away
  11. I've done a few trips in that area. There's some fantastic skiing
  12. The doctors didn't hook me up with oxy, but if you want to share I'm ready to party!
  13. Thanks everybody. I'm briefly back at my place for a little bit. Pretty soon I'm back to the parents house. I'll try and do the only exercise which I can do which is go for a walk.
  14. I wish I could say I was staying here, but I'm headed back to my folks house for the time being even though there's no power. I've got a few days of PT coming up this week. I'll try and post when I can.
  15. Not too bad, I've even managed in doing a little cooking. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it does take me a lot of effort
  16. Thanks C. One positive thing is I'm posting from my house I'm just spending the night, but hopefully I'll be here more in a couple days.
  17. Well some of my meetings with the doctors have been a little stressful. It seems they don't want me skiing until next season, and one of the doctors thinks I should forget climbing. They just don't have a clue about how important that is to me. I like to think I'll make it back, but I just don't know. All I have to say is fuck the doctors.
  18. I wish I could say I was drinking a Guiness, but I'm not that lucky. I just get 3 pills a night.
  19. I'm a little bummed that I haven't been to a pub club for an age. Maybe someday I'll make it to one.
  20. Hey Dave, I'd love to go skiing with you, but its just not in my cards just yet.

The insurance may bill you for removing your tree that hits your neighbors house, but they might only charge you for clearing your neighbors roof and leave you to deal with the tree trunk on the ground. Leaving you some fun times with chain saws.

Yeah poplars are prone to fucking shit up. I wouldn't recommend planting one Doug firs can be ok. Hemlocks have some problems, but they aren't really bad.

Having a tree or two in your yard can add a lot to your property value. There are lots of nice trees that look good but don't grow to be giants, which can be alarming if not truly dangerous. A lot of nurseries provide lists with maximum heights that the city recommends for planting choices. To the original point. There are a lot of hacks out there. If you're looking for somebody with some skill the PNW-ISA has an online list of certified arborists. In the Puget Sound area you can look up Plant Amnesty in the phone book and they will give you the names of several good arborists in your area.

I'm not sure cactuses are going to be the next big thing, but I would expect a lot of trees that do well in southern Oregon and Cali to move north. Some stuff like Bay laurels will be nice, but not everything is good.

Believe me I'd like to be able to work, but right now I don't really have that option.
