  2. ... as long as my partner at the time doesn't drop me then they can be whatever the hell they want to be - and they can say whatever the hell they want to say, too, so long as they keep me on belay!!
  3. He didn't say he wouldn't climb with anyone that is straight he just posted that he's looking for a gay/bi climber. Why the flaming? I'm sure he wants to climb with others of the same sexual orientation only because he's tired of listening to the typical gay bashing, homophobic, macho bullshit. I can't blame him for not wanting to be insulted and feeling like he's being judged constantly. It takes a lot of courage to post what he did since society likes to judge him for the way he was born. Good on him for having the balls to post in this forum. No reason to be a fucking asshole to him. take it from Salathe: vy can't ve chust climb?!?
  4. ahhhhhhhh, the internet at its finest - full of idiots, jackasses, assholes, douchbags, pricks, and cocksuckers. then there's bill, ow and porter, the models for us all.
  5. Since i am just stewing in the wake of a fall that occurred just six weeks ago, the most excitement i get these days is from dvd - and reading about mito and oleg's epic i have been injured before, injured with a back problem, even... but i was able to fight through the pain and make a swift return. this injury, however, has left me utterly helpless - and in a constant state of boredom since all i can do is stare at my giant aquarium, at work, and my rack as it collects dust in the gear closet, at home. reading has been the best therapy, figuring that if i can't do "it" then i might as well read about "it." of course i have ventured to literary lands not containing the mountaineering fauna, also, but i am quickly, wearily, growing restless with my activities as i await the upcoming day when i can squeeze back into a harness and get back to "the game." since this is my first serious injury - and i have never been out longer than a month with any ailment - i am wondering what others experiences have been with injury and brief cessation from the climbing arts and sciences... what happened to you and how long was yer recovery? what did you do to occupy yer time during recovery? with which activities did you start when you were mobile enough move more athletically? how long has it been since this injury occurred to you, and are/were you expected to make a full recovery with full range of motion regained? what was the best form of therapy(physical, psychological, spiritual, etc...)? were the doctors more or less helpful? mainly i am interested in other folk's experiences... tired of the same ol' stuff and want something new to think about... help out if you can

  18. I was bored of watching the same ol' climbing porn that i have in my collection of movies so i went to the shop a few weeks ago and found something new... The Asgard Project, with Brit Leo Houlding, Yosemite yocal Sean "Stanley" Leary, and Spaniard Carlos Suarez. The movie itself is nearly an hour and a half, then there is about 60 minutes of extras. After training trips to Spain, Italy and Yosemite, the team (with their support and camera crews) skydives into Baffin Island to put up a new route on Mt Asgard. The new route doesn't happen, but they do an established route over about two-weeks time, with a nice blending of camerawork, climbing and humor, not to mention the drama at the end. The extras reveal that they did another route on Asgard put up by the legendary Doug Scott, though this fact is not brought up during the actual film. Absolutely amazing film with a fine sampling of climbing and wingsuit basejumping - badass! Check it out if you can!
