  1. Sorry about the cross-post. After posting in partners, thought this might be better posted here, not sure how to move threads. Moderators are welcome to help out. Previous years BCMC held a drop in climbing Wed evenings in Squamish. Does anyone know if this is going this year - the BCMC web site has been down for a few days so i have no means to check. Previously they met at St. David's Church on Taylor Way to carpool from Vancouver. If anyone knows if this is happening and the meeting spot/time, please post it up here. Thx

  4. Choada, I sent you a PM, but thought i would put my interests here so if anyone else is interested, PM me. I am looking to get out cragging and alpine climbing. Comfortable leading 5.9, will lead up to 5.10 on a good day or with the occassional hang dog/gear pull. I have over 10 years experience in climbing, backpacking and mountaineering (with a short hiatis when i had a young kid - he's 3 now). Enjoyed climbing in Red Rocks, J-Tree, Bugaboos, Rockies, BC/Washington and I am in decent shape, have gear, ropes, car etc. Lots of stuff I want to do: Angel Crest (Squamish) Bugaboo Spire Prusick Peak Stuart Slesse Brewers Buttress (Banff) among others, and open to suggestions. Good attitude - motivated, goal oriented, but won't sulk all the way home if things don't go as planned. Enjoy a cold post climb beer, but not naive enough to leave it in the creek Would be good to start with some cragging (11worth or Squamish) or some easy alpine (Yak?)to see how we are together and go from there. Brian
  5. No. Never.
  6. Why only women? What if I promise to mind my manners during forced bivies?
  7. How could he be so naive to think someone could just walk onto the white house lawn with a suitcase full of anthrax... lol...we don't have to worry about his band of terrorists
  8. That's what she said.
  9. In politics and in business, you don't have to be good. You just have to suck less than the next closest competitor.
  10. Bicycle chain lube works great. Just make sure you get the stuff specifically designed to not get gummed up w dirt. You can imagine that is even a bigger issue for mtn bikers.
  11. Is that your son?
  12. Mix bacon drippings into grits...mmmmm....a little honey isn't bad either.
  13. Allons y!!!!!1111
  14. You could easily walk right by the ranger station at Shurman w/o being noticed. Just don't camp there.
  15. How about a selection for "Do you plan to solo Ranier"? Then i could vote. For the record, I would be a good boy and attempt to get a permit and do it all legal. If I got denied a permit, i would probably go anyway if I figured I could avoid NPS staff, which it sounds like at current staffing levels I could.
  16. Climbing is an entirely egocentric activity. But so what? Lots of things are.
  17. I bet you have a real purty mouth
  18. The best breakfast is the one having the most fun! Jesus I can't belive you all missed this one.
  19. Why so secretive? Why not tell all where this happened?
  20. Rob, why are you so filled with intolerance for those who are less tolerant than you? First the Jesus thread and now this. WTF, is it that time of month or what?
  21. OK I got one (not multi-variable calculus, but fun nevertheless): show from Newton's laws that the fall factor is length of rope divided by fall distance FF = l/d Be sure to include any assumptions you make (e.g. the rope behaves like an ideal spring where f = kx). Bonus points if you include a free body diagram.
  22. Math jerk off!!!!! Could someone please post a multi-variable calculus problem?
