  1. no, america is better
  2. sure, it's possible the conductor gave him the impression that she didn't want him to hit it, but if commander George W. Bush told you to torture a fellow citizen, it would be your responsibility to defy his order and act according to what you believe is right. it's the same with being a responsible percussionist.
  3. I went to the Saturday 2:00pm performance and was equally thrilled, except for one thing... That dirty whore of a percussionist didn't play the gong leading up to the last O Fortuna!!! He warmed it up and looked like he was getting ready to hit it, then he just decided not to! Did he screw it up for the night performance too? I think it may have been a retaliation towards the audience who insisted on clapping after nearly every soloist finished a section.
  4. if you have a Croton lechleri in your back yard, you could drain the sap and put it on your wound
  5. do you understand what you're supposed to do? you're not communicating it well with us.
  6. Hey, that's MY girlfriend's number. Since you seem to know her too, could you let her know I've been trying to call her? Thanks!
  7. if I could be an enzyme, I would be DNA Helicase so I could unzip your genes are you saying you have to give a DNA sequence, just by translating from the protein sequence? it's not so simple since there are many DNA sequences that all code for the same amino acid
  8. who needs a memory when there's a "search" function and numerous people who love a good thread resurrection?
  9. Sounds like you almost described the La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX, although I know someone who isn't thrilled with the supposed waterproofness of the gore-tex. I have the older non-gore-tex version, and they are a dream unless I'm on deep wet snow for hours at a time. You are probably thinking more of a shoe than a boot, but if sidehilling is in your game plan, I'd be afraid of screwing up my ankles in shoes.
  10. Is there really any purpose to a single word Seahawks says? Lots of people are predictable on this board, but few are so completely unoriginal.
  11. So you merciless embryo-slaughterers are telling me that you're not bothered by the fact that your tax money is being used to fund a screwed up war? What about having public high school teachers include Creation in their curriculum. Of course you are bothered by that. The rub with embryonic stem cell research is about being forced to support something I don't believe in. in vitro fertlilzation is a private enterprise, but NIH grants come from yours and my income. Maybe we should all just lock ourselves up in compounds like the Browns and fraternize with the local anarchists.
  12. I use green SF as well. I can't imagine a more perfect fit for my own heel and arch. I did do my own little homemade job of increasing the arch support slightly and removing some material at the ball of the foot to give it a bit of contour.
  13. If you can swing it, a great alternative to staying on the North Ridge all the way down is to follow this approximation of my descent several years ago. This was the finest butt-glissade of my life, and assuming good snow, it could be yours too. It may not be the easiest thing to find your way to the snowfield, but it's well worth a little searching.
  14. oh no, it's tent body, poles, and fly. the fly/poles/footprint combo is 2 lb, 2 oz. packed weight (min. wt. plus stuff sacks, stakes, instructions, guy lines) is 3 lb, 6 oz. my use will be min. wt. plus footprint (6.5 oz) plus a few stakes, meaning about 3 lb, 8 oz.
  15. the Big Agnes Seedhouse 2 SL ?????!!!!! A 2-person, tent/fly design (not single-walled) for only 2 lb, 14 oz min. wt. jigga what??? Oooh, I'm so excited to own it as of this past weekend. It seems UBER-fragile... I hope it holds up for years to come. It's not roomy. Anybody wants a review of this from someone you would trust without hesitation with your very life and your money that you should give to me now... *ahem* ... drop me a note and I'll let you know if it's worth the price tag once I try it out.
  16. Great climb, great pics guys. I was one of the four you met on the top.
  17. This doesn't fly in WA, actually. All they need is the ticket as evidence against you. The officer doesn't have to show. But it's worth the change if that makes it more convenient, at least.
  18. It's only one year, not two. 10 more months for me, baby!!! This will cost you (possibly depending on the county) a $150 flat fee and the ticket cost is waived unless you get another one within the 1 year period, but could possibly save you in insurance hikes depending on your insurance's policies. You may want to call them and ask what this will do to your rates if you get stuck with the ticket. If it won't hurt them, I'd advise to just have a mitigation hearing to reduce your payment. This will be far cheaper than hiring a lawyer.
  19. Very little info is out there on Wallowas climbing, which is probably because there isn't much worth the trouble in there. Matterhorn looks awesome but is limestone and super crumbly. Sketchy for rock climbing.
  20. Not knowing whether or not you need to hear this, I will say it: Be very sure you know how to navigate back to Paradise in a white-out. They are always a possibility and trips to Muir have cost people their lives because they weren't prepared. As for footwear, I have done it in leather tennis shoes before. Her hiking boots, if waterproof, will be the perfect footwear for Muir.
  21. Since "buzz-word" was from my post, I'll clarify I wasn't saying people's comments were hate-filled, I was just cautioning against the use of the word to describe a person who goes by a different moral code, as seems to be the popular thing to do these days. Save the word for the real nuts Ivan was talking about above.
  22. ...but it IS within their power
  23. If she does not want to move to the PNW, then she may not be "the one." That's cool though man, I hope you can find a way to work things out. Talk on the phone lots, or maybe even get a webcam & Skype to be more personal. e-mail or IM is no good for a primary form of communication. Let things just happen the way they happen for a while and you'll know what to do. If she's the one for you and you both know it, you'll both be happy to move to be together.
