  1. the jerks. i bought a jacket & got an e-mail later saying they were out of stock. oh, but they gave me a 20% off coupon as restitution. woohoo, i feel special.
  2. but then again we all know kevbone is no fundamentalist
  3. the clock is ticking on this one... but you forgot the evangelical solution!!! how could you of all people? don't worry about it because the rapture is bound to happen in a few days/weeks/months.
  4. You dirty west-siders always get the newest offerings from McD's. I've never heard of the "Patriot Meal" before. Can you tell me which McDonalds to go to when I'm in Seattle next? Does part of the proceeds go to fund the war on terror or something?
  5. his only real mistake was modeling his public persona after that buffoon on "The Simpsons"
  6. for crying out loud, they've always had the option of just admitting their guilt and getting the whole ordeal over with

  8. If only he had his wits about him, he could have eaten the dogs and been just fine
  9. if you go by the "human animal" doctrine, kevbone's posts could be considered equally cruel to us. he should never be able to post again.
  10. Attaching electrodes to tongue & testicles sounds more like a dirty game than a method of electrocution...
  11. fully hydrogenated means saturated. partially hydrogenated can have trans fats, thought not necessarily a significant amount. also, 0 g trans fats doesn't mean truly trans fat free. there's a difference between those two... 0 g just means it's below the threshold for being reported as 0.5 g
  12. ...it starts off with the words "mountain backpackers." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,293875,00.html but it's not Fox's fault this time, thank you very much Ass. Press

  15. so true. when I can't be "doing," i like biking against the clock and up hills. lower impact than running but still good aerobic work. gotta be pushing yourself to get worthwhile training out of a bike.
  16. http://www.rsc.org/publishing/journals/article.asp?doi=tf9696500561 yes it does react with water, just not very quickly. given the airtight container, your "rust" could be Al(OH)3, making your water slightly acidic though not likely to be a real problem. anyway, if you have all dyneema it doesn't matter.

as far as I know (which isn't often very far ) there's default titles based on post count for people who keep a low profile, then I think you may be able to "buy" a title by donating to teh site, and then moderators often brand people for a variety of reasons. It's clear to see what happened in this case...
  19. nylon and dyneema aren't the same. in my chemist's opinion, dyneema should be more chemical resistant than nylon. I'd still trust the dyneema for sure but may be a bit skeptical of the nylon. wish you could tell me the pH of the water your stuff was soaking in. nylon will degrade in extremely acidic solutions, but I doubt your water really became very acidic. your call, but if there's no visible damage, you're most likely OK
  20. I lock, but I'm beginning to consider unlocking because I have a trashy car and I don't leave anything worthwhile anyway and a broken window would super suck.
  21. I like the one about carrying my health insurance card. Brilliant! Too bad a real event had to precipitate this thread but it has offered me some good tips.
  22. Is it a general concensus among the wisest of the wise that doors should be left unlocked at trailheads? I still lock mine but never leave anything worth stealing. Here's a bit of advice for all you CD-carrying hipsters: I copy all of my CD's and keep the originals at home, so all a thief would get would be about $5 in CD-R's. And thanks, counterfeitfake, for posting all the unfortunate details so we can be informed of what's going on.
