  4. A personal favorite of recent "A master at the art of living makes no distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion - he hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues with excellence what he is about and leave others to determine whether he is working or playing. He himself always knows, he is doing both."
  5. Fundamentally you like what you do. I know this having listened to you talk about your profession. Sure taking a year off to fuck off and climb will be great. I wont argue with that. But is exactly one year of climbing going to make you feel good about the next 15-20 years back on the job? Of course not. I'd bet you'll be even more miserable when you return as all you'll think about was how good it was during that year. What you need to do is set better boundaries with your boss. I know how much you work and it's ridiculous. If you actually worked just 45ish a week I bet you wouldn't be considering something so drastic. I would either look into another job function there or market those skills you have acquired to date and find a new employer in a location with better, closer in climbing (Bozeman, SLC, etc etc). Sure you'll take a huge pay cut but you'll be way happier in the long run. And if you truly cant stand it anymore why not instead of doing something super drastic take a more conservative stance: go back to school! Get a MS or PhD or MBA or JD! Will you climb more? Yes! Will you be shooting your career in the foot? No! And at the end of the day keep in mind climbing is a selfish, hollow, time intensive activity that might make you happy but more than likely will only make you want more often at the expense of others PS: for a fit person you deadlift like a weakling PPS: if you have a couple grand in the bank you should be shopping for a house right now

  8. Powdherb FTW! I'm going to print this TR off and next time Jim O tells me Beacon is the best crag in the world I'm going to hand him this.
  9. God damn who started this stupid thread!?!? 72 pages of shit if you ask me! :laf: Send me a PM or email and I can kinda get you directions to the routes. The best is to meet me out there and I can show them to you as they are kinda hard to find.
  10. It would be the best soap opera every With the amount of content cc generates you could a 2 minute installment each week for months!
  11. I'm still waiting for Olyclimber to tap his inner genius and make a cc.com xtranormal video

  14. Word. Cody is the goods. Speaking of I may or may not be available for a trip in early April. Let me know when you have solid dates!
  15. FYI: as a part of the Hyalite road plowing agreement they now gate/close the Hyalite road on April 1st.
  16. Nothing in the Sawtooths has been claimed as a VI. Curtis Ridge didnt feel like a VI to me. Some of the routes that went up on the east face of Liberty Bell in and around 1967 would have qualified for for VI status at the time.
  17. if you can find it on sale.... on sale
  18. Arcteryx Dually has a two zipper to go along with all the awards it won
  19. Guess I should point out that putting a full strength biner on a low strength gear loop (the 350a) is kinda of overkill on my part... if I could find a superlight super large biner that could handle rock impacts I'd switch to that. Havent seen anything yet though...
  20. If you go to a place that specializes in zip ties I think you can find something that will do the exact same thing... if not better. I thought the Verro was a better trad than snow/ice harness with the oversized front gear loops for larger racks... still a great harness for sure. If only they would make the 350a with oversized front gear loops... now that would be swwet ...
  21. After breaking 2 in a fall and loosing all the screws racked on them (I think you heard about it Grant) I switched to WC anodized heliums + those old yellow plastic "rubber bands" that Arcteryx use to offer with the Verro harness (am I dating myself? ) to keep them in place on my harness. I've done almost two seasons on them and though yes they weigh more than the plastic ones I no longer have to worry about having to bail on a route because I lost all the screws. I've found in combo with an ultralight harness using metal instead of plastic the overall setup doesnt feel that heavy on my hips I think the anodized is key as it allows you to quickly identify which biner on your gear loop has the screws especially in situations where you can get get a clean look at your harness. If all your other biners are anodized (mine arent) get a color that is different the rest. Lastly I like the clean nose the WC helium has as I can pull the screw off cleanly and quickly. I friend of mine uses two single BD wire ovals as he can rack his entire rack on just those two and seems to really like it.
  22. I should be up in your neck of the woods last two weeks of March dude
  23. Cody
  24. Looked in to me. Ask Mulkey if he heard if anyone has climbed it recently. GREAT video David!
  25. Friend of mine in Wyoming has a Ti revolver... the ammo weighs more then the pistol. Given the activity of Grizzlies in the fall and spring out there I dont blame him.
