Three great upcoming events for you ice climbers out there! Aaron Mulkey will be doing TWO multimedia presentation on ice climbing in Wyoming. I know you've likely climbed ice in Canada and cant imagine why anyone would want to climb ice anywhere but there. Come see what you've been missing out on! 1) Friday Sept 24 at 7 pm in Portland at the Mazamas 2) Saturday Sept 25 at 6 pm in Seattle at Feathered Friends Aaron will show pictures and video from some of these climbs as well as others: Alpinist Magqazine Patagonia The Cleanest Line Climbing Magazine Rock and Ice Finally on Sunday Sept 26 we will be doing the 5th annual Portland Ice Festival. Full details here Though Aaron will be doing the show at the festival he wont have as much time so he will be doing a shortened version. If you are really interested in ice climbing in Wyoming I would highly encourage you to catch one of the two shows above! I hope to see all of you at one or all of these events!

Special Use Fees Increased - Denali and Rainier
John Frieh replied to ScaredSilly's topic in Climber's Board
Peak fees are specific to Denali and Foraker at this point. Climbing in the Ruth only requires a National Park Pass. PS: Alaska fucking rules. -
Demo both the new quarks AND new nomics among other tools at the Portland Ice Festival. Rob Owens on the new quarks and nomics: LINK

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised dude. I hope all of you are skipping laundry night and morning coffee for the rest of the month... based on the sheer amount of schwag Graham is amassing you're gonna wish you had more $$$ for raffle tickets once you see it all

We can gladly deliver Graham MCing in his wall creeper sporting the jihad beard... for the appropriately sized donation of course Bring your dollar bills! We're raising money! Are you saying that we get to stuff the dollar bills into his SuperSnuggie? I believe you're thinking of the other venue on East Burnside Hey: any votes for keg flavors? Full Sail is helping us out again this year.
-
I'd test run it on something similar (cheap blue tarp?) before risking the floor of your tent... the melting point of that foam could be questionable. Then again we're all secretly middle age overweight poseurs with overpriced tents so shit who cares?

If you prefer gloves or chalk Chalk? Does that mean I can free-climb the comp rout? Sweet! The PRG was great enough to grant us permission to attach free hanging features to the wall this year! If you think you can dyno past a free hanging dagger I'll gladly let you try Nate! That said I distinctly recall running into you in the Hyalite parking lot... dust off those tools and come on out!

Thanks but I would argue epic would be a sub 17. Sub 18 for guys of my size is respectable at best. And rowing is for people scared of the AirDyne

You might want to do a double layer of cardboard... wont add much weight and will add a little more piece of mind. You could also sandwich a piece of tin foil in between the two pieces of cardboard before taping the entire thing together.
-
Yes. High point and time on the prelim route will determine who does and doesnt go onto the finals. Men's and Women's divisions. That said as far as comps go this is thee most informal comp you will find. If you plan on competing bring your shoes and harness and some $ for an entry fee into the comp. If you prefer gloves or chalk or your own tools bring them. We have filled up the last few years running so if you show up at 6:30 and still expect to compete dont act surprised if we turn you away. Bring some $$$ as we are raising money for the Washington Climbers Coalition and Hyalite!

The hound was impressive, but Rick has been training on his apple tree in his backyard. Apple Tree Route Yeah because the finals route is going to be jugs the whole way :laf: See you guys there! Apple tree or not: do some pullups!

Thanks! Will do! Speaking of Aaron is going to do a longer version of the same slide show at the Mazamas Friday September 24th! I would highly recommend catching this one also if you're in town

Cut a piece of cardboard to the desired size. Wrap it in HVAC foil tape (the shiney metal stuff). The first time you use it the glue will melt and give off a funny smell but after that no issues.
