Those do look sweet! If you want to save some change, the Trango Extreme S model is what they're replacing I believe. I believe the only major differences are in the styling and the addition of Gortex in the EVOs.

Pardon my positive spin on this situation, but I have much admiration for those climbing mid-week. They have made decisions that afford them this luxery. Greetings and salutations to my fellow climbers.

My favorite cocktail is breaking open a thermometer and guzzling down the contents. Liberal wussies might have a problem with this, but my buddies in the House know whats good for you.

I've hiked up there a number of times, but I have never seen anything better than about 30 feet of 3rd class scrambling on Neahkahnie. Maybe it is the sea cliffs in this picture of Neahkahnie? I believe these cliffs are just crumbling dirt, but maybe there is some rock in there.

Thoughts: an alpine pack should be simple and streamlined, and of course have attachments for your tools of choice. Outside of that, I think the most important part is the fitting. I have had a pack made for me by Dan McHale, and he fit it based on a few measurements, including how long my back is, etc. Also the harness and straps should be designed to carry the load most efficiently and comfortably. It sounds to me like you're not asking fit questions, and that just leaves the "what attachments do you want?" questions. The reason you're not getting any answers is probably because the answer is "as few as possible". I guess one design point is to make sure you put on a nice sturdy haul strap that you can clip your pack into and yard it with that won't break when the pack is full.
