Used about 15 times. I liked them a lot, they just hurt my big toe. Make an offer, they are just sitting around the house, rather see them get used as they have a lot of life left in them. Send me a message.

I have a week off and am thinking about going over to do Sir Donald, Uto and/or Edith Cavell. This is all dependent on the weather. I will be stopping at my parents house in the Okanogan on the way over and the way back, but they are pretty nice I will leave this Saturday or Sunday. Send me a tell if you are interested in joining me.

God sure did do a good job designing people. Fill them with hormones and mental disorders, give them free will then send them to Hell. If he wasn't atemperal, he might get fired. Is free will Religion's excuse for God messing up people so much? There was a time before religion ... before the profiteering of spirituality I mean. This guy sueing god is rather bold, but I believe it is a worthwhile political statement. I think both religious and non-religious people could see the value in it.

If nine cops can't put a guy in cuffs without using a tazer, they should all be fired, because one of them should have been able to do it alone. The guy asked good questions, but he wasn't a gentleman about it. Kerry was answering every question, even as the guy was being tackled and tazed.

If God doesn't show up to court does the plaintiff win by default?

Not the Twin Sisters for sure.

The republicans have been trying this for years. I agree. Don't go Ramboing up there unless someone knows what they are doing. Thanks.

You can ski down that route back to the car in an hour or two. If there is a good bootpath, it isn't unreasonable to make it go in a day. I think we did it early season without skis in 11 hours car to car (we even stopped to almost barf). There was snow about 3/4 of the time and a little scramble around 12,000 feet. FYI. Have fun and be safe.

Is this during Octoberfest ? That would rock!

After climbing a billion peaks the luster of just being up there kind of wears off. Especially if you can name every peak you see and have climbed half of them. I remember standing on peaks and marveling at the views, but that even gets old. Then there is really no difference between the pretty view and sitting in your living room. Not that I don't enjoy it still, but the spirituality of it, I think, lies in the mystery of what you see. When that mystery is gone (and when you notice the smog on the horizon), all you see is lifeless rocks and clearcuts. Sometimes when I'm in the mountains I feel rather ungratified. I miss my family. It sometimes seems rather materialistic. Like there is no difference between some hick obsessing over his jacked up blazer or me obsessing over this mountain. Same thing really. At first the mountains seem like they can fill some void in your life, but after you've done it, you realize you have to fill the voids from the inside out. No pile of dead rocks can ever do that. I still find myself in the mountains, but not for the same reasons. now I just go because I miss them. Kind of like that annoying best friend.

[TR] Mt. Waddington - Bravo Glacier 7/28/1960
Bill_Simpkins replied to AlpineK's topic in British Columbia/Canada
I really appreciate you putting this history into electronic form. It is very valuable! Thanks for caring! Nice TR. -
My dad took these from the back side of the boos last weekend. He says it is from way up some obscure gravel road. Enjoy. Houser

I tried it last Saturday. Was too lazy to tape. Got my ass kicked. Nice job!

I agree. However, I found later in the season is more suitable for soloing volcanoes. I would be weary of soloing it this time of year still. There has been alot of snow this Winter and I'd still be weary of weak bridges and such.

The Visor - Snow Creek Parking lot, Icicle Creek
Bill_Simpkins replied to shaoleung's topic in Climber's Board
I saw it too. Looked like someone was hanging taking pictures while the others were trying to climb it. -
About 1/1000 of climbs done are actually posted on websites. People send routes everyday probably breaking speed records and probably never discuss it. Why? Because they don't care.

[TR] Olympus - booze, bikinis, and boomboxes 7/4/2007
Bill_Simpkins replied to Gary_Yngve's topic in Olympic Peninsula
Could you post more bikini pictures? Thanks! No really, nice TR. How were the moats? -
I don't think that bolt should be there. There is ample natural protection on either side to keep people from sliding into the abyss, that is of course they loose grip of the GIANT FREAKING HOLDS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR FACE!!! Now that I got that out of the way ... I'd prefer a functional bolt than a damaged one. But if people got that far, they've already done the hardest parts.

I use whatever I have left and try not to hog up the pieces the next pitch will need. If there are a couple good nut placements at the belay and the next pitch is a handcrack, I'll try to use small cams or nuts. That is about as complicated as it should be.

I found a fresh looking anchor with some biners on a tree just below the Grey wall between the tracks and the water. Tell me what your anchor looks like and I'll give it back to you

What gives with these crappy 'new' trails
Bill_Simpkins replied to CascadeClimber's topic in Climber's Board
I think the switchbacks on some of the trails are overkill. Instead of ruining about (1 mile trail) about 15840 sq ft, they ruin about 63360 sq feet (4 mile trail). Even with drainage problems, what is better for the land and more disruptive to wildlife? Ever hike in New Zealand? Most of the trails go straight up, people don't complain there. Get rid of the switchbacks and let Darwin do the rest.
